[/b] She sighed to herself as she pressed her fists into her cheeks as she leaned against the table. Making different faces at herself by applying more pressure to one side of her face and then to the other side, Hestia was sure if someone came by her right now, they would be extremely confused by what she was doing.
Ravenclaw Tower had never seemed so quiet to Hestia. She could hear the crackle of the fire as she sat at one of the tables near the back of the room. If she listened close enough, she could hear the sound of the younger year girls that were giggling about some boy in the upstairs dormitories. In front of her was a tiny wizard’s chess set, one that she had sat down in front of, but had no intention of playing. Hestia Jones had no idea how to play chess and she wasn’t about to try and learn today. For a moment, she thought that she was going to keel over and die of utter boredom. She swished around her water glass a few times, watching as it made a mini hurricane within the glass walls and then proceeded to put it back down in boredom. Why couldn’t there be something to do? Where was everyone? ”This is what happens when you befriend the entire Quidditch team,”
Finally, she gave up on making the ugliest face that she could and grabbed her glass of water from the other side of the table, ”Knight to E5.”[/b] She said to the chess board that was in front of her. Warily, the knight looked up at her and raised both his eyebrows and she shrugged her shoulders, ”Well, what are you waiting for, E5.”[/b] She said as she used her fingertips to give the piece a quick shove in that direction. The poor knight had to maneuver around all the other pieces and Hestia quickly realized that she was just going to get the poor pieces hurt, ”Quick. No, no, no, go back -”[/b] She whispered to the white pieces that she had decided to command. She looked around guilty, suddenly very glad that no one was around to see what she had done to the poor pieces.
Halfway through the knight’s return to it’s resting position at the back of the board, the door to the common room opened and Tia immediately jumped to her feet, excitement flooding through her veins as if some unseen dam had just broken and let it all out. She hadn’t even realized that throughout the process, she had managed to drop her cup of water onto the carpet and it was beginning to seep around into a a small circle, ”Merlin! Thank Merlin you’re back!”[/b] She said, running toward the door, not even bothering to see who it was that had come inside, ”I’ve spent all day alone.”[/b] Her eyes were wide and full of animation and for a moment, Hestia didn’t care about anything except the person that was behind the swinging portrait door.
