New Look [Addie]

Adeline was as giddy as she ever had been. Classes being in session only meant more time wasted, but she wouldn't let her studies slip, not when she was so close to becoming and Auror. She had one more year of class and then the three year stint of epic studies to become a licensed ministry official. It was her dream to be like her father and she would not let anything come in between her and her goal. Except for maybe Benji, er, maybe not even then. Finally divination was over and she gathered her things as quickly as she could. Pulling off the Ravenclaw school robe she shoved them into her bag and closed it before shimming out of the trap door.

Tromping down the stairs the faint click of her heels every so often as she hurried to meet her boyfriend. Heart pumping it was amazing how much someone could lighten the mood, and she hadn't even seen him yet! Slowing as she came to the corner from the corridor that rounded toward the room of requirement. That was when she saw the dark mop of hair, she almost ran, but held her composure to a brisk walk. "Oh my gosh, today has been hell." She laughed as she wrapped her arms around him with a huge sigh of relief. The fact that lessons were over for her today was a load off her shoulders. Usually she would have went straight to the Ravenclaw tower to study, but today was different. She was meeting Benji and that was how it stay. There was always time to finish up homework later, and Adeline was not one for procrastination, ever.

"You don't understand how happy I am to see you." Still holding him in the hug she breathed in the amazing smell of furniture polish and tea, he reminded her of home and that was very much where she wanted to be right then and there. "I love the way you smell." It may have been an odd comment, but it was honest. "Anyway, where did this door come from? What were you thinking about?" Letting go of the embrace, Addie took Benji's hand in hers and tangled her fingers within his.

Adeline was a studying fiend, she had so much work to do and with midterms around the corner before Christmas break. It was going to be hell in a hand basket. She only hoped that Benji would understand, or perhaps the pair of them could study together, that would be nice to not study on her own for once. Once they broke from the hug, her fingers found his and she felt like she was in the proper place for once in her life, like she belonged and it was an important feeling. Sure they've shared a rumpus night in her bedroom, but that was something only the two of them would share, Adeline didn't want news spreading around the school, and the last thing she wanted was for Chloe or Joram to find out, because that meant Vincent would know, if he didn't already.

"Yes I think the room..." She was pulled toward the door and inside was a beautiful barber-like shop. She giggled lightly and shrugged. "To be completely honest with you, I've never cut hair in my life, Briar always did that for us. He's a man of many talents, but I suppose that it couldn't hurt to try. If you're willing." She giggled and looked over all the scissors and combs, a few brushes and the like. "If I mess up there is a spell to fix it so don't worry we will try and try again until it looks right."

A little nervous at the thought of cutting her boyfriend's hair, she nodded toward the chair and clapped her hands together in glee. "I really do like your long hair, but I don't know what it looks like short. If you want it short I have no problem with that." Adeline spoke with a matter of fact tone. It didn't bother her in the slightest that he wanted his hair trimmed, if she were being completely honest, she was excited to try her hand at hair cutting. Grabbing a spray bottle she laughed quietly to herself. "So, what would you like done my dear boy?" Snatching a cape from one of the chairs she cast it out to open the folds and let the black drape rest over his chest. Snapping the closure at his neck, she smiled.

Resting her elbow on the back of the chair she started to think and soon she was playing with his hair thoroughly inspecting what was possible, and the possible outcomes. "How about a faux-hawk, you'd look cute like that, or maybe... I'll just start chopping at your hairs and we'll see where that takes us? Do you trust me?" Leaning forward a little she grabbed a pair of shears.

"Whatever I like eh?" With a grin she tried to think like her mother, what would look good with the shape of his face? What would go best with his eyes, one thing she knew was that she wanted to be able to see them one hundred percent. Addie admitted to herself that she liked it longer, but if he wanted it cut who was she to stop him? Granted, she had the scissors in her hands. "I could trim your eyebrows too, maybe wax your back?" With a hearty laugh, she started to wet his hair with the spray bottle, leaned forward and sprayed him in the face for fun. "Sorry I couldn't help it."

Combing out his luscious locks she bit her lip as she thought about what it was she would do to him. Her dad's hair style came to mind, and then she thought that maybe he would look better with it a bit shorter. "I don't know lovey, you've got nice hair and I'm sort of scared that I'm going to mess it up and then make it impossible to repair, but on the other hand I hardly mess up at anything so may as well go for it!" She smiled at him brightly in the mirror. Setting down the tools and pulling a ponytail holder from her wrist to tie her hair back. "Let's do work!"

Grabbing the scissors and the comb she started to trim away the ends with a very serious and focused face. It was the same face she got when mixing a complex potion and she didn't want to mess it up or else she would have to start over once more. It was her studious face that everyone in Ravenclaw house happened to be aware of. "As long as you don't freak out if I really mess up. I don't know how to make a hair tonic, so maybe you'll need to wear a hat and brew on..." She was being honest, Adeline sucked horrendously at potion making and that was where her fears lay for the NEWT exams.

The girl laughed as he flinched at the mist of water. "Awe you don't want any fun bangs, man those are my specialty, but I promise." Addie beamed at the boy while she began working until her face hardened into it's usual 'don't-bother-me' look. She was an avid studier and she needed to study all of the materials. Sure NEWTs weren't until her seventh year, but if she studied hard now and knew what to do when the time came it would be all the much more easier. Turning the chair around she she could use the mirror to judge the length. Needless to say the girl was doing a mighty fine job.

A mop of dark brown hair lay on the floor underneath them. Placing the comb between her teeth for a moment to even out the length. "Good, because you may need it." She spoke seriously through the comb as her eyebrows furrowed in disgust at a spot. In all actuality she had done nothing wrong and just wanted to freak him out a little. As much as she was prim and proper, she was mischievous to an extent, and pranking someone when nothing was really wrong happened to be her strong suit.

"Potions..." Addie's voice got quiet as she focused on his hair some more. "You know I'm bad at them and I find it almost intolerable to study for them." Letting out a sigh, Addie pulled the comb through his hair and began styling it up in to a nice spiky form. No weird bangs and nothing out of the ordinary. Turning the chair around and removing the cape. Addie started to clean up his neckline and brush away any strays. "There, what do you think?" Her lips curled into a smile as she rubbed some stray hair from the back of his shirt. "I think you look lovely with short hair."

Within moments he had jumped up and pulled the girl into an amazing hug and a most brilliant kiss. Just completely glad that he loved his new doo. Adeline had giggled and the room swiftly changed taking away the scraps of his hair and the tools that were used to create such a masterpiece. "I'm glad you seem to like it, and before you head to class you can always come to my dorm and I'll do your hair. It's no problem really." Addie did care for the boy and she was glad that he loved it.

A couch had appeared out of nowhere and after he offered her a seat. Sitting down next to the boy the plume of her dress fluffed out and she toyed with the hem, as always. "My day, oh boy. First it started off with history of magic with Professor Adams. I like the guy, but after the sex ed class massacre, it's really hard to look at him the same. And then potions." A shudder ran through her body at the thought. "I managed to melt my cauldron and get what I thought was veritaserum all over the floor. It wasn't veritaserum in the slightest, considering I believe that it's not supposed to be black." A nervous laugh coursed through her chest and she smiled lightly shaking her head. "I hate that class I'm so horrible at making potions. Essay writing, cool good, straight A's, but hands on." Shifting her lips the girl leaned into Benji with a sigh.

"Please, please, please can you help me? I'm so bad and every time I manage to fuck it up." Adeline was not familiar with curse words, but hanging around Eddie and Caitlin had that effect on her. It wasn't a constant and she understood the context, so she didn't hesitate or slow down in her sentence. "And then it was Divination, I really enjoy the class it's one of my favorites, but at the same time it is far too unpredictable." Turning to face him Adeline let her arm drape across his stomach and let her head rest on his shoulder.

Adeline knew that he was laughing at her on the inside so she just nudged his ribs with her elbows. Divination was difficult, but she managed to do okay. Potions just so happened to be the only class that she struggled with and she wasn't about to give up to easily. A 'C' wasn't going to cut it for NEWTS she needed at least five N's to be accepted into the Auror Academy after school and she wasn't going to stop there. Smiling over at Ben as his lips touched her forehead, she looked up just as quickly as they stood. The room started to change around them and as he held her close the girl just buried her head into him. His smell, his body, everything just sent chills through her own body. "I don't want to show you how bad I am at this, it's embarrassing." Looking up at Benji, Adeline gave him a weak smile. Her brain was still overloaded with information and really she did want to practice and learn, she always did, but something clicked.

Eddie had mentioned shutting off her brain for just once and it never occurred to her that it was possible. "How about, we make one potion together, I teach you a few offensive spells and then I shut my head off." Four words that would never be spoken with just anyone. Adeline never shut her brain off and she was even working while she slept. Dreams were filled with failed potions and it haunted her, so what if she just stopped for a moment and became unfocused and fun? Was that even probable? More than likely not, but she could unwind and relax with just Benji and that may make lessons a lot easier.

Bright blue eyes scanned over the potions table and she just stared at the equipment. "I'm going to singe your eyebrows off, just so you're warned." Adeline grinned at the boy before her and opened her potions book to the Veritaserum page. "I'm going to fail!" Instant panic came over her as she looked at the ingredients. Anxiety crept up her spine as she looked on and she wasn't too certain that she was prepared to learn about something so complex. Spells, those were easy, charms were her specialty, this was on the complete other side of the spectrum. "I-- I can't do this...."

He was gentle and very patient. Benji was something Adeline could have only dreamt up if she hadn't of met him the way she did. "The Patronus is a very difficult charm to cast, and might I add that your frog is amazing." Honesty was how Adeline worked, she hardly ever lied and when she did it was for the better of the other person. As selfish as the girl seemed she was very selfless when something happened to another person and she would keep it that way as she had to be in order to keep peace. That was her entire goal in life and would continue fighting it to preserve what she thought was right and fair.

"To spend time with you without fretting about my lessons or freaking out that I suck at something so simple as potion making. Like... just you and me for once instead of you, me, Cait and Eddie. They're fun and all, don't get me wrong, but we hardly just have the two of us." Adeline's cheeks started to turn a pale red color, it nearly matched her hair, but she couldn't help but look over to him with a smile. Potions were her worst subject and she was probably the worst student Slughorn had seen in his time.

The only reason she was still taking potions happened to be the fact that she needed to pass her NEWTS with an N, in order to even be considered for acceptance. "I'm already panicking." Her voice was quiet, but the instant his hand touched hers a smile came to her lips and hoped that he would forever be her partner, fat chance. She didn't want Eddie to feel left out and she had this inkling of a feeling the Benji and Edds were working together in Slughorn's class. Addie used to partner with her brother until this year, and up until now they did alright, also known as Oliver did all the work while Adeline read the instructions and ingredients. "Fine powder..." Using the herbs that Benji had provided she started to work with the mortar and pestle crushing the leaves and pebble like seeds.

"I sure hope so, I'll need to do this on my own next year and I don't even know how to make a clear potion." Addie laughed quietly as she continued to crush the things into a dust. Hair falling into her face as she worked and did her best to make certain the ingredients were near perfect. Benji was getting the cauldron and fire set while she focused. Stopping only for a minute to tie her long hair up into a very wavy ponytail. "Does this look good enough?" She set the small bowl down on the table and pushed it toward him a little.
