For a school as large and populated as Hogwarts, parents weekend had actually gone rather well. Expectations among the staff had been to the tune of over-cramped corridors and an excess of people milling about the halls and great rooms of the castle. For the students, this was a dream weekend where they could show off their talents and knowledge of school to their loved ones. For the professors, however, it was more of a madhouse than any other given day of the school year. Aislinn rather enjoyed the festivities parading about the castle. The festive atmosphere, beaming childish faces, and overall sense of happiness in the castle was a refreshing feeling. Even though it was a weekend, Aislinn's presence had been requested on the grounds just as extra authority in case of any mishaps.
The young professor didn't mind spending her free time away from teaching within the castle. Normally, her free weekends were spent back home with her mum and young daughter. Teagan was her pride and joy, and the main reason she had taken the position of Astronomy professor at Hogwarts. Though only a year old, Aislinn wanted to be able to provide for her daughter and to show her despite the detours life throws in your path, you still could achieve whatever you wanted out of life. Although, that was a little much for a one year old to catch on to. This weekend, however, with Aislinn's presence required at school, Teagan had come to stay with her. As it was family weekend, and Aislinn was all too aware her mum would be visiting her little brother, it was only natural to bring the baby along. Aislinn was all too happy for the precious one-on-one time with her baby girl.
She had met her mother earlier in the day in Hogsmeade where the train rolls in. Traveling by the floo network or broomstick was hard enough with adolescent children, let alone toddlers. And you could forget apparating. Babies were far too squirmy for that kind of magic. No, the train was their only choice, and Aislinn had eagerly awaited them on the platform nearly in tears when Teagan toddled her way uneasily across the wood planks towards her mother. It seemed she missed more and more of her growing up each passing day. She wouldn't let the girl out of her arms the whole time they were escorted back to the castle. Once arrived, Aislinn's mother ran off to meet up with her son leaving young mother and daughter on their own at last.
"Did you miss yer mummy, lil' one?" Aislinn cooed as she hugged Teagan closely to her body. She smiled warmly as the little girl lay her head in the crook of her mother's neck and held on with tiny hands for dear life. It was always these small, simple actions that melted Aislinn's heart. She walked through the great hall, pointing out each House's individual banners, and beaming as Teagan's eyes widened with the Gryffindor banner. Although, she could see tiny brown eyes darting between the red of Gryffindor house and the yellow of Hufflepuff. That mere reminder of Aislinn's past, and part of Teagan's own past cause tiny pangs in her heart. It was an area of life she had devoted herself to moving on from, and something she never talked about. All anyone in this world needed to know was that Aislinn was a young single mother doing anything and everything to raise her daughter.
Sitting down at the end of one of the long tables, Aislinn sat Teagan on the table before her. They took turns babbling animatedly, despite the fact they weren't speaking actual words. A game which was entwined with occasional tickles and pokes to illicit squeals of laughter from the baby. "Mummy missed you very, very much, Teags," Aislinn spoke softly, her Irish accent coming out in full. She reached out and brushed some of the baby fine hair from her daughter's eyes, "And she loves you very, very much."
