VIVIAN MORTELLE Grandmother of JORAM MORTELLE; Portrayed by KARA
Vivian Mortelle was here for more than just a vacation and a pretty dress party. The only family she had in Italy was her husband Vicente III, and Antoni. Anyone who knew the Mortelle's knew that living half your life with someone you loved and cared about and the other half with a tyrant of a betrothed, was an absolute roller coaster. It had made Vivian physically exhausted on some days. Keeping her straight face and perfect demeanor around Vicente was tiresome and very taxing. When it was just her and Antoni, everything was so easy and peaceful. He loved her for who she was and didn't expect her to be anything else. This weekend all she wanted was a few straight hours not flip flopping and being happy with the best parts of her family.
That was not going to be possible if they weren't all happy. So when Vivian watched Joram excuse himself from the Hufflepuff table with the blank stifled look on his face, she knew something had to be wrong. "Antoni...I'm sorry. I'll be right back." Giving his hand a squeeze, the dark haired woman stood and followed Joram out to the crisp air of the evening. Where was he off to in the middle of a meal? How very unlike a Mortelle. Even if it was pot roast night. Did she call out to him or just follow at a comfortable viewing distance? There was something about the way he was walking and the way he carried himself that made her worried. The smell of distress could have burned her senseless.
"Joram?" Pulling her sweater around her tighter and folding her arms across her chest, Vivian took a few quicker paced strides across the dewy evening grass as they entered a courtyard. "Hey, Five...Slow down." Not like she couldn't catch him or anything. Vivian could out run almost all of them if she wanted to. With Joram, however, Vivian always aired on the side of caution as she had with his father, and tried to make him feel as important and strong as she saw him to be. When she finally caught up to him her arms opened up. Having been a mother for so long trained her to know when someone needed to be held. Her arms wrapped tight around the skrawny boy as she held him close to her. "I've missed you so much, Mia Luce Del Sole."
