MARLENE MCKINNON’S INTERVIEW

He took his seat at the head of the table and smiled, “Such an exciting day. An Exciting day indeed!”The four Heads of House shuffled into the great hall, all adored in their finest dress robes that billowed out gracefully behind them. Professor Riddle led the pack towards the long mahogany table at the head of the room, holding his head high as if he were leading a parade. Professor McGonagall did everything except roll her eyes at his stereotypical Slytherin display of arrogance, just hoping to be able to get through these interviews as quickly as possible, and with as little confrontation as possible. Professor Vector, a woman of no nonsense much like McGonagall, followed in a close third, keeping her fingers knotted together as if she was praying. She hated the idea of a wizard’s cup and pitting all the students together. There was something...off about the idea. Finally, the last in the succession and subsequently waddling further behind was Professor Sprout. The herbology professor seemed to be in a land of her own, not fully paying attention to where she was walking and clipping the side of the table with her thigh.
The four of them found their seats at the table, Professor McGonagall sitting to the right of the head seat and Professor Riddle sitting on the left. Professor Vector assumed the seat next to Riddle and Professor Sprout took the remaining seat next to the Head of Gryffindor. The side door to the great hall opened as Headmaster Dumbledore joined the four of them at the table, taking his rightful place at the head, “Good Morning yet again Tom, Minerva, Septima, and Pomona. Are you sufficiently prepared for our second round of interviews?”
“Yet another Slytherin. I dare say that you've been pressuring your house, Riddle.” Professor Vector said as she ran her finger down her list. She wasn’t surprised to see that all of her excelling students had also chosen to apply for the Cup.
McGonagall made a tick-ing noise with her tongue in her mouth and leaned forward so that she would have eye-contact with the Head of Ravenclaw, “I think it's a good thing that the Slytherins are taking such an interest.” The woman’s eyes glistened for a moment with excitement, “They'll need it against my Gryffindors.” She looked toward the man that was across the table.
“Hufflepuff applicants seem a little...hesitant about the whole ordeal.” Professor Sprout interjected and smiled at the rest of the Heads of House.
Professor Riddle chose to say nothing, feeling that he was most certainly above the petty trash-talking and banter that seemed to be accompanying the Cup. He knew that his Slytherins were strong and with his guidance it was the most noble house of Slytherin that would be victorious. He felt no need to answer their musings on the cup applicants.
The rivalry seemed to persist for the second round, still strong.
The Professors all pulled out their lists of applicants, and their scrolls with their questions written down on them. Professor Riddle dipped his quill in ink and jotted down another question to his list, while Professor McGonagall put her reading glasses on and reviewed a couple of her applications. Professor Vector was busily scratching arithmancy formulas upon her roll of parchment, and Professor Sprout smiled merrily and took this opportunity to look to Dumbledore for guidance. Meanwhile, Headmaster Dumbledore produced a small candy dish and set it on the table in front of him, taking a small piece and plopping it in his mouth. “Would you care for some Tom? They’re Chocolate Frogs. Do be careful, they tend to try and jump out of the bowl if you're not careful!”
“No Thank you, headmaster. Shall we proceed with today’s interview?”
“I suppose we shall!” Dumbledore flicked his wand as the doors to the great hall opened wide for the first applicant of the day, Ms. Marlene McKinnon
