No one rubbed Mulciber the wrong way or drawn more of his attention than Mary MacDonald. The two clashed since nearly the beginning, Mulciber constantly making snide remarks about her parentage, and jabs about wishing her father has succeeded in burning her and her family, yet ever the feisty Gryffindor, she returned with righteous indignation. When he finally figured out that she honestly could not care less what he said to her, he switched to attacking her with minor hexes and jinxes in empty halls. These attacks became less about punishing her for her lowly blood status and more about eliciting some sort of response from her which is what led to Mulciber casting the Cruciatus curse on Mary the night before the last day of their fifth year after he saw Mary sneak out into the Forrest.

Now.
Mary still hasn’t told anyone about what happened to in the Forrest that night because she feels like people would see her differently; as though she could have fought back harder but didn’t because she was weak. Though she likes to brush it off as a growth in her maturity, this is the main reason why she stopped pulling pranks and causing mischief around the castle at night. Needless to say she still is a bit jumpy, but when around Mulciber, she does all she can do to appear completely unfazed. Perhaps he could threaten that he’ll do it again or blackmail her into doing various things so that he won’t do it again.
