The sun was pelting the stairs that lead up to the school, and Adeline found that it was the most relaxing part of her Sunday. She was already caught up on homework and decided that maybe now would be a good time to read something more interesting. In her hands the girl was clutching a novel called 'Sleeping Murder' written by Agatha Christie, and she was getting sucked in by the words and the way they flowed over the pages. Adeline has always been pretty much secluded, but she has found friends in the most unlikely places.
With a sigh she sat down near the bottom set of stairs and looked out over the lawn. Rays of sunlight were beaming off the surface of the Black Lake, and it felt almost too perfect. The trees had turned their musty oranges and reds, but this was her favorite time of year. Summer and Autumn were her two favorite parts of the entire 365 days. Checking her wrist watch, the hour hand was pointed directly at the one, and the sun was almost at it's highest point in the sky.
Warmth filled her as Adeline lounged upon the staircase and she cracked the book open. The smell of the pages filled her nostrils with the most stupendous scent. Finger through the first few pages quickly her eyes found chapter one and she began reading without a so much as a care in the world.
Soon, the girl was nearing the 1/3rd mark of the book and she looked up over the scenery. She didn't know how long she was sitting there, but thoughts of her brother came washing over her like high tide. Addie missed her other half, Oliver, dearly and sometimes wished he came home from a the Muggle School in the America's, but she would have to wait for winter vacation to see him, and then after that it would be until the summer when she could see him again.
Footsteps were caught in her ears, and they ricocheted of the stone walls. Hopefully it wasn't someone nasty, as the girl was alone just herself, her book and her wand. Even though her father had taught her how to fight using tooth and nail, she'd rather not use what he showed her.
