[/b] He took a deep breath, his watery eyes surveying the crowd. They all were anxiously awaiting the announcement that would change the world of eight students over the next six months.
Ballgowns and dress robes were the style of the evening; every parent and student dressed up like they were attending an awards show of sorts. The Great Hall had been transfigured into something beyond its normal splendor. The candles upon the ceiling were still there, but a large chandelier also adorned the ceiling. It lit up the room with a glow that was barely more than the candles, but seemed to make the room so much more than it already was. There were tables scattered about the room covered in light gold Professor Dumbledore pressed his lips together in the center of the room, holding up his hand for silence. Everyone was still trickling in, but he was anxious to get the announcement underway.
”As many of you are aware, we have been interviewing for the Wizard’s Cup. A tedious and drawn-out process to be certain.”
”For Gryffindor-”[/b] The Gryffindor tapestries seemed to fall from no where, suddenly lighting up the room in a rich red color, the faces of the champions were embroidered upon two tapestries in the corner of the room, ”Congratulations to Remus Lupin and Alice Hallows. They will represent the most noble house of the lion!”[/b] Dumbledore listened as the crowd erupted in various oos and aws of the splendor of the reveal. Around him, parents were clapping loudly at the names of the pair of Gryffindors that would serve as the champions for this year.
Dumbledore held up his hand, letting the room know that he was ready to continue, ”For Slytheirn-”[/b] Another wave of his hand and the room was suddenly a mixture of greens and emeralds, the faces of two more champions falling from the tapestries and lighting up on the back wall, ”Mr. Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix Black!”[/b] There was a series of clapping that followed as congratulations spread through the crowd. It was no doubt that the champions would be vicious rivals when the time arose.
Dumbledore silenced the crowd with just a look before waving his hands magestically through the air. Bright golds and yellows flooded the room and the faces of the Hufflepuff male and female champions fell down in tapestry form next to the Slytherin’s tapestries. ”Riley Jackson and Jacen Frost of Hufflepuff!”[/b] The crowd once again burst into applause and loud cheering. It appeared as if everyone was excited to see who the next champions would be, however, for the clapping died off quicker than expected.
”And finally-”[/b] Professor Dumbledore was quick to wave his hands this time around and the faces of the Ravenclaw champions appeared on the tapestries in the back of the room, between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, being lit up by a series of blue and bronze lighting, ”Mikael Erixon and Head Girl Eden Wolf for the House of Raven!”[/b] The man yelled into the air.
”Congratulations to all of our champions and may you have the best of luck in the upcoming months.”[/b] The old man’s eyes sparkled with delight as he spoke, ”And now! The first dance of all the champions!”[/b] He practically demanded, gesturing to the floor. They would be paired by house; Alice with Remus, Bellatrix with Lucius, Riley with Jacen, and Mikael with Eden. The eight house champions. About to embark on a journey of a lifetime that would change their lives forever.
