[/b] She asked, her hazel eyes swimming with desire as she approached the desk where the boy sat on his chair, his eyes wide as he stared at her. He handed over the paper without so much as a peep and she began skimming the first page, looking for her column. Anger began to set in as her eyes traveled further and further down the page, looking for her column. It was no where on the first page. And - as she flipped to the second - no where to be found there either. Raven slammed her fist into the desk, frightening the clerk who took an involuntary step backwards. How could they push her all the way back to the fourth page? She could only imagine what they would be saying when she finished up this Malfoy story. They would be offering her a front-page promotion in no time, ”You can just -”[/b] She growled slightly, ”Just take this back.”[/b] She turned away from the boy and pressed her hand to her temple, feeling slightly overwhelmed with the knowledge that she had just ascertained. She couldn’t be pushed back anymore or she would be back-pages news.
Walking down the streets of Hogsmead, Raven Monroe stood out like a sore thumb. Unnervingly confident, her red hair was curled slightly and always seemed to be flawless, even when she had put no effort into it like she had this morning. She was wearing a white suit jacket with her shirt unbuttoned a bit too far and a pair of matching slacks. On her feet were a casual pair of dark red flats - the color of sexuality, the color of desire. The very color that Raven seemed to emit herself as she walked at a bit of a brisker pace. She was a woman on a mission this morning; a mission to acquire a few books that had caught her interest lately. Namely Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. It had caught her interest the other night in the tub with Lucius and since then, she hadn’t been able to get it out of her mind. Rave’s eyes caught the sight of a tiny bookshop on the corner of the block and she immediately headed in that direction, right as a gentle down-pour of rain began.
She threw open the door right as it began to pick up, scattering the shoulders of her white suit with rain-drops. Raven pressed her back against the door of the bookshop closing it behind her, her eyes scanning the shelves that were before her. Merlin, she hated places like these. They smelled like musky old-people and stale whiskey as if they hadn’t been cared for in years. Did book-shop owners actually think that the stink of musk attracted customers? They had a few things to learn about the art of selling something to others. They were a breeding ground for overpriced and overrated literature. Just the same, she looked over at the owner and found herself incredibly surprised. Instead of the old and rotting gentleman that used to own Tomes and Scrolls, there was now a young boy with dark hair and pale blue eyes. He was attractive to say the least and she quietly reminded herself that she had seduced younger. ‘Perfect,’ She reminded herself with a smile that was probably a bit too large.
For a woman that had just been dumped by her boyfriend the night before, Raven seemed relatively unfazed by the whole thing. She assumed that it had something to do with the fact that she just....couldn’t bring herself to care about other people. She had adored Bryant, for what he was worth - and she literally meant what he was worth, she figured that he was worth at least a million galleons based on the latest surveys in witch weekly. But it would take more than copious sums of money to tie down Miss Monroe. She was interested in something so much bigger these days.
”Pardon me, Sugar, is that today’s issue of the Prophet?”
In that moment, someone opened the door to Tomes and Scrolls and entered, apparently to get out of the rain that had picked up since she had been inside. Raven removed her fingertips from her forehead and stared at the gentleman that was before her, ”Today must be my lucky day-”[/b] She breathed inaudibly.
