Oliver sat in a small shop overlooking Diagon Alley. The tea here was average but he had tastes for finer things. He was used to his life in a large house with Briar his butler. That man could make a pot of tea leagues above this watered down half grade they served. Mentally shrugging Oliver took a deep breath, holding it in for a moment before letting out a loud sigh. It was a bitter taste that had nothing to do with the tea in front of him. Eating his words, and he had spit a lot of them over the years. He had said it, that he would never come back to this place, Hogwarts that is. He had sworn he would make it somewhere else. Coursework, he had killed it. He had moved ahead so far that, in his mind, he was too good for a place like Hogwarts.
Muggles were an unkind lot. They took more stock in what a paper said about you than what you actually knew. It had been his persistence that won him what they called, an internship. It was his persistence that he had also been let go from that internship. Turns out, hexing a machine that makes copies was a bad thing, even if it made the bloody thing work faster. Who cared if it bit a few people here and there, he had made it more efficient. So he had to do a few memory charms, he was good at them anyway.
Looking down Oliver swirled the last bit of the tea and shot it back. By now it had become cold and he regretted drinking it. Now, sour tempered and a bad taste in his mouth he stood. Leaving a few coins on the table he left the small shop without a word. Choosing the place in his mind, Oliver focused. He left the loud pop went largely unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of the alley.
He had apparated as close as he could to Hogwarts. He couldn't appear in the middle of the school because of it's charms and wards. This meant, a long trek for him up to the school. Hopefully, his owl would have arrived by now, and the appropriate people would know he was coming. Adeline was here, of course but he hadn't told her he was coming. He wanted his entrance into the school to go unnoticed for a bit. Just long enough for him to gather a feel for the place. The caretaker, Filch was waiting for him at the entrance. Oliver greeted him with a smirk but otherwise kept his mouth shut. Perhaps, things would be more interesting now. Perhaps he could get some good research done and maybe the minister would actually realize he had made a mistake. If people wanted Oliver on paper, well by Merlin he would give them enough paper to drown in.
He made it to the main hall where he parted ways with the caretaker and was, essentially alone. Classes must be in session now. He wasn't due in class for another couple of days, so he had free roam as long as it was within tolerance of the school's guidelines. Suddenly, Oliver felt like a kid in a candy store. Something caught his eye and Oliver walked over to the stone wall of the main hall. He placed a hand on it and slowly moved from side to side. He pressed his nose to the stone and then his ear. Crouching he frowned, then started knocking on the stone. He didn't notice the hustle of classes being let out until the noise become too much. Pressing his ear against the stone, anger crossing his face he listened.
