Siobhan really wasn't one to curse - she was a lady after all - but who the bloody hell's genius sodding idea was it to make girls ask the bloody boys?!
Expletives over.
It simply went against all rules of proper engagement. What, were girls now going to get on their knees and ask boys to marry them? For goodness sakes, they were in Hogwarts, not Amsterdam's Red Light district! Didn't the staff care at all about they were preparing its students for the real world? Didn't they know that academic prowess was just as important as polite society and social grooming? Siobhan was seriously beginning to doubt the core vaules of Hogwarts and momentarily mused over the idea of transferring to Beauxbatons. Surely, they would never have let something as ridiculous as this happen. Emily Post would be sorely disappointed.
Still fuming, Siobhan paced in the quiet corridors of the school, silently debating how to go about this debacle the idiots running Hogwarts had created. She couldn't even begin to imagine asking a boy to the formal. Not only was it tacky, which she had already made obliquely clear, it was also just embarrassing! What if he rejected her? Siobhan wasn't sure she could emotionally recover from social humiliation, all because boys have poor taste. Just look at the couples parading throughout the school that were all in bad form: Mikael and Atlanta, that-hideous-red-head-she couldn't-even-remember-the-name-of and James, Rodolphus and Bellatrix (even with perfect breeding and a marriage arranged, the pair was completely off).
Honestly, how was it that Siobhan Eva Cassel was still single? Her charm and insatiable good looks were completely going to waste! She knew that the goddesses she worshipped - Cleopatra, Marie Antoinette, Marilyn Monroe, etc. - were never in this sort of sticky situation.
Mustering all her strength, Siobhan concluded that she would simply have to wrangle in the next eligible, and not-completely-hideous boy that walked by. She could do this. She was beautiful and charming. Who in their right mind would resist her?
