It was early morning, and Saturday which meant most of the students were going to be out and about doing their own thing and Adeline wasn't feeling up to her normal routine of studying. Being cooped up on a nice day like today would be the last thing she wanted to do. Though the sun was peaking over the mountain ridges, Adeline had decided to get some early morning practice in before more of the students came around these parts. Fixing her jacket upon her shoulders, and a white scarf around her neck, she decided that today would be the day she wore her boots. It did happened to be October, it was wet and cold, and she was not looking forward to a romp in the mud, even if it was with ther best mates.
Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she smiled a bright grin and grabbed her violin case. Slipping down the stairs silently before anyone awoke was easy enough, all due to the fact that it was indeed the weekend. Adjusting her scarf around her neck as it loosened during the descent. Fog curled it's wicked fingers around the grounds in thick waves. Pushing through the front doors and toward a courtyard, she knew that it would have been nasty for the violin itself to be outdoors in such conditions. Adeline knew more than anyone that they had to be taken care of and she did, a simple spell here and a charm there to protect it from the elements.
The thunk of her boots on cobblestone was enough for anyone to turn a head but it was mostly birds and the morning wildlife. Something about this courtyard grabbed Adeline's attention in her second year. It took her long enough to find the perfect spot, but here, the sound was remarkable and she would kill to have her music room from home at the school. Alas, that was a ridiculous request. Setting the case lightly on the lip of the fountain she Addie pulled out her most prized possession. It was from her father for her thirteenth birthday, being able to hold a full sized violin finally made her year. Removing her scarf before she grabbed her bow and rosin, and flicked the metronome to keep her pace.
Stretching out her neck, Addie set the butt of the instrument right below her chin, starting with a simple scale to wear down the strings ever so much, before she sent her focus else where. Paganini's Caprices no. 01, 05 and 24, she had been working on it all month. Every Saturday morning and every Sunday evening she found herself out here until curfew, sometimes well after. Unfortunetly she had the music memorized for the most part, but the fingering was proving a little more difficult, her sheet music was pinned to the inside of her case, only peering at it a few times.
A few moments into the song her strings started to sound flat, but her fingering was off. Starting again she nearly made it to the end, and once more she was off key. Taking a deep breath the Giovanni girl closed her eyes and focused intensely on the piece that was in her mind. So engulfed by the music she was unawares of any onlookers. Normally the school was silent and asleep at this time, it was her own moment.
Getting into a more challenging part of the song, she furrowed her brow and her finger slipped. "Damnit." She whispered under her breath and started up once again. Working her fingers to the bone she smiled as she played, feeling the music with every ounce of her being. The footsteps behind her were loud enough for anyone to hear, but Addie kept playing without noticing the solitary person who came to halt.
