Her right eye opened first. A groggy yet sparkling gaze glanced around the room while he other eye was fixated on staying shut. The sun blinded ol' righty and Alice snapped it back shut with reverence. It was morning. She had to get up. Her plans for the day were so incredibly important that they could not wait. Her library books were due today. Sitting up her mess of brown hair engulfed her head and shoulders in a chaotic web of tangled strands. Alice took a moment to rub her eyes and stretch before standing up, grasping her wand firmly in her hand and turning it on herself. Quickly the crazy mass upon her head began to unwind itself and smooth, until every little strand fell in just the right place.
Whilst her hair was working on itself, Alice had dug out a plane white lace dress and a sea foam cardigan. But where were her books?! Her hair, just finishing up, whipped around her as Alice rounded on her trunk. The lid sprang open and she dove her hand into it, shoving clothes and other random things aside. "Oh! A sugar quill!" She set it aside along with a pair of flats she had also found before searching again. It wasn't that she had lost the books. They's simply been buried under all her other things. You see just the other day, she had over turned it by accident and it never got put back right.
Finally coming across them at the bottom of the trunk, Alice hoisted the two rather large books out of the trunk and flung them onto the bed. The other girls were quiet but stirring a few were gone and a few were still fast asleep. What could she expect for a Saturday morning? Standing she focused on her mission, pulling a white hair ribbon around her head, tying it off at the nape of her neck and fluffing out her gentle waves. After that she was ready to be on her way. The sound of bare feet hitting the floor reminded her of what she had forgotten and Alice turned back, tucked her carefully painted little toes into the flats and retrieved the sugar quill before marching back toward the door.
Nothing was going to bother her today once these had been turned in. She'd had a nightmare last night about their being over due. But now Alice was certain it wouldn't happen. Her step had a hit of a spring in it as she wished the fat lady a good morning and proceeded down to the Library. It was still quiet. Though as she noticed it she half chuckled to herself noticing that libraries were always quiet. Her smile stuck for a long while as she made her way right up to the counter and dropped the books down with thud. "They aren't late. I made sure." Smiling Alice nodded once and turned back to the shelves.
There was a soft sound coming from her as she hummed, sugar quill in hand (and in mouth). Her soft hands dragged along the old dusty spines of the treasured literature. Alice's eyes scanned over the titles. The girl was so lost in her own little world she didn't notice that anyone else was near her. When her hand reached up to a shelf just within her reach, another hand reached as well but with less effort and as their skin touched, Alice retracted and the electric feeling between there finger tips. With wary eyes Alice looked up at the brightly smiling face above her and was suddenly not humming any longer.
