He had never really intended to stay long in the first place, but after seeing who was in there, he just had to check it out. For the first time in his life he was starting to feel as though he'd been too quiet, too reserved. There was something stirring in his blood. Once, long ago, he had secretly read a book by one J.R.R. Tolkien called The Hobbit. In this book the hobbit had had a bit of blood in him from one side of the family that wasn't content to stay in one place and never do anything, the Tookish side. Ezio had a feeling that some long dormant Tookish side of him was beginning to wake up. Perhaps Ted or Mickael would still be away and he could discuss this with them. Ted might actually know what he was talking about since he was a muggle born wizard.
Ezio had managed to mostly stay away from the drinks, and was quite certain he'd given the door boy about three times as much money as had been asked for, but that was fine with Ezio seeing as his father had no qualms about giving him more. He didn't have a gambling or drinking problem like some sorry fellow students, and his family wasn't out squandering it in their own ways either. If there was one thing an Italian banking family knew how to do, it was hang onto their money from one generation to the next.
He stood outside in the hallway as the doors slowly closed behind him as he straightened out his dress shirt and stuffed his tie into his pocket. As this moment he wished he had one of those muggle contraptions that told the time, or that Hogwarts had invested in one of those tall grandfather ones. He wasn't sure why it was a grandfather thing, perhaps it had given birth to a smaller version, the father clock, and then the son was the tiny one that could be worn on the arm. A rare smile formed on his face at the absurd thoughts as he gently rolled the sleeves back on his shirt to just above his elbows, still standing outside the now hidden Room of Requirement.
