Wednesdays were so boring. Middle of the week, no one was making plans to do anything fun, and to top it all off, it was raining again. For the captain of the Ravenclaw quidditch team this was a tiny bit of a concern. Looking out over the pitch as he stood perched in a window of their common room, Grayson pressed his elegant finger tips to his lips, the other arm was held across his torso and rested under his pointed elbow. The muscles in his jaw flexed as he watched the downpour splatter against the glass.
After a long moment of standing there, a mild chortle was let out and Grayson ran his hand through his hair, turning away from the site. Once he'd slung his bag over his shoulder, he was jogging out of the common room, the eagle door knocker thudding loudly as he almost slammed the door behind him. Not out of anger though, Grayson was simply not paying attention to the use of his own strength. Even with he thud he paid it no mind and made his way quickly down the stairs to the library.
"Alice! You're looking positively lovely today." The Gryffindor girl, who often worked in the library after classes, looked up at him from behind the counter he was now leaning on. "Is that a new hair ribbon?? I really love the way it complements your eyes." He flashed her his winning smile as the girl blushed, but said nothing. She was so often quiet, but this was a library after all. With a shake of her head she placed the last three issues of Quidditch Quarterly, the last two issues of Seeker Weekly, and the brand spanking new Beaters Bi-Monthly, all on the counter for him. He had is own copies delivered to him of course, but he stored them, unread, on a shelf in the common room for reference later. "You really are a doll. We should go for tea some time."
Not waiting for a proper response, Grayson moved on, pulling the official rule book and a play book down from a shelf as he went. There was a table just waiting for him as he laid out the books out in a haphazard spread. He was planning on being there all afternoon now that he'd seen the rain and canceled the seeker practice they were on for. Eden needed a break anyhow, and he was hardly worried about her skills. Instead he'd made a deal with the Gryffindor captain and was using tomorrow's time slot for a beater session.
After just thirty minutes he'd gone through two of the magazines, a muffin, two cups of tea, and half an apple. He was just turning to the middle of of the newest Quidditch Quarterly, when he got sucked into an article about Rian Lewis' knee injury. That's what he gets for not moving out of the way. Honestly he didn't dislike Rian Lewis, or his team, but any time it came to a scuff between a chaser and a beater, Grayson was going to side with the beater every time. He chuckled as he bit into the apple, but never let his eyes stray from the page. The update was that Rian wasn't in playing condition just yet and that they could not reach his rep for further comment. "Bullocks!!!" He had money on their next season and with Lewis out, it might be a closer one than he'd anticipated. The news had made him shout at the magazine and a loud noise echoed through the shelves as his chair slammed back down on all fours from its previously tilted position. The display merited a good few nasty looks from other students. Luckily, Alice had left now and he wasn't getting reprimanded by her.
