Bryant stepped out of the steamy shower and ran his fingers through his hair, it was starting to get longer than he preferred; Bryant would have to have his stylist come out and give him a trim, he needed to ensure that he looked his absolute best for the upcoming formal. This was the one part that Bryant had almost learnt to live with, the attention and the media; that was largely due to his wonderful girlfriend, Raven Monroe. He sighed softly as he towel off his face and reached over to his bag and pulled out the small jewelry box that he had been hiding in a very small compartment that he had enchanted. Bryant opened it up and stared at the ring that he had purchased for Raven, it was a ridiculously over-sized princess cut diamond surrounded by onyx diamonds that really accented the sparkle of the center-stone. For Bryant’s taste it was much too ostentatious, but he knew that for Raven; it was perfect. He sighed and looked up at himself in the mirror; he could hardly believe that he was going to be proposing to Raven Monroe at the formal. “You sure about this ole chap?” He asked himself with a brief smile, but he knew that he was; Bryant loved Raven, and he was pretty sure that she loved him as well.
Bryant tucked the ring back away into his work bag, he knew that Raven would never go through it; she despised his work. He slipped on his boxers and his pajama pants, before he finally slipped on a white tank top and headed out of the steamy bathroom. It was located directly across from the prefects bathroom that he had used while he was in Hogwarts, the painting was of course the same old lady that it had been; “Good Evening, Gretchen.” Bryant said cheerfully, but the depressed look on Gretchen’s face stopped Bryant in his tracks, “What’s wrong Gretchen?”
”Your lady friend, the one named after the bird… are you two… intimate?” Gretchen asked Bryant a strong sense of depression and anxiety in her voice.
“Why yes, we are Gretchen; in fact, I’m planning to propose to her after the champions ceremony.” Bryant said proudly, he had always treated Gretchen almost as a mothering figure, the two of them had held quite a few conversations while he had been a prefect; as Gretchen had another frame located inside of the bathroom, so she was able to see everything that went on in there.
“Is it common in today’s age for women to bathe with men that they are not intimate with?” Gretchen asked Bryant curiously.
Bryant cocked his head at her, trying to figure out what she was trying to tell him, “What are you talking about, Gretchen?”
“You’re lady friend; she was bathing with the Malfoy boy.” Gretchen said with a distaste to her voice, “Quite inappropriate if you ask me.”
Bryant shook his head and smiled at Gretchen, “No Gretchen, I’m sorry, you must be mistaken. Raven wouldn’t do that.” But even as he tried to argue with the painting Bryant knew that Gretchen wouldn’t lie to him, she also wouldn’t get two people mixed up. Bryant shook his head, and looked at the painting; “You’re wrong, Gretchen, you’re wrong.”
He stormed off away from the painting, feeling as if his heart was crumbling; his eyes were welling up with tears as he thought about what was going on. He thought about the betrayal of Raven; after everything he had done for her… how could she do this to him? Bryant barged into their room only to find it empty, and his heart sank. Gretchen must be telling the truth, she’d never lie to him and he knew it. Bryant sat down in a chair and just stared at the door, waiting for Raven to come back to the room.
