( PERSONALITY ) :
Astrid can best be described as a free-spirit these days. She’s very happy-go-lucky when it comes to her life and the place that she’s in. Very seldom does she harbor dark feelings and the only one that constantly comes to mind is the miscarriage of her second child when Zeke was eight. Astrid is a confident woman who isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even though her husband doesn’t always approve. She loves cooking and baking and most importantly, letting herself be completely and utterly free in the kitchen. She’s always had a knack for making people laugh - which is part of what makes her such a good mother to Zeke...she didn’t let him stay down in the dumps for long!

She’s extremely loyal to her family and to her bloodline and would do anything for them; sacrifice anything if it meant that they would come out better than they were before. She’s very patient and will always take the time to explain something to someone if they don’t understand the first time around - that was one of her favorite things to do at Hogwarts and part of the reason that she became a Hogwarts tutor when she was in her fifth year. A rare sight to see, Astrid can be quite the rebel when she wants to. She can constantly be found watching the muggle television and trying to figure out how it works, reading muggle papers, and most importantly smoking those addictive muggle cigarettes. She’s more like her son than she lets on....

( HAIR ) : Astrid has wavy brown hair that she constantly wears down; she keeps it swept to one side with a clip most often when she is cooking.
( EYES ) : Light blue eyes, very rounded and innocent-looking.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : Soft and rounded features, Astrid looks beautiful both with make-up and without. She has the tell-tale classic Selwyn cheekbones that have been so raved about in the Pureblood circles.

( ATTIRE ) : Per request of her husband, Astrid never leaves the house without looking her absolute best. She often wears the italian custom-tailored dresses that he has purchased her with a pair of sensible heels. However, at home, Astrid is most comfortable in her pocketed skirts, a soft blouse, and her favorite kitchen apron.

( HISTORY ) : Born of noble and most pure of blood, Astrid Selwyn was quite the little character when she was younger. Her mother Josephine - whom she fondly called Mama Jo - loved her daughter more than anything in the world. Her father - Claude, of French nobility - loved Ast as well, always making sure that she had what she needed. A kind and most thoughtful family, the Selwyn weren’t ones to boast about their pureblooded attitudes or write off others for not being like them. There was a sort of unspoken preservance-rule that lied on the underskin of their family; a rule that mandated that they could have all the fun in the world while they were young but as soon as it became time to settle down, they would take into consideration the blood-line of their future spouse in order to keep their line pure.

Astrid was thrilled when she was offered her spot at Hogwarts and even more thrilled when she was placed into Hufflepuff like her mother. It was and always has been a source of pride for her.

In her fifth year, Astrid became a tutor for the Charms professor, using her well-known apt for charms to help others that were...well a bit out of sorts with the class. She loved tutoring and getting to speak to tons of different people throughout her week, that was until Valerian Maxwell became one of her tutees. He - in her opinion - was rude, crude, and crass. He was everything that she dislike in the world and, although she tried to keep a calm front during her sessions with the boy, she found it nearly impossible to tutor him on anything except how to stare at her drooling. During their sessions...and even trickling over, Valerian would follow Astrid through the halls, practically begging her to go on a date with him. Finally after three months, she had had enough and informed the arrogant Slytherin that if he managed to make five or more OWLS on his upcoming exams, then - and only then - would she agree to go on a date with him.

When he came to her the next year with the letter say that he had indeed secured the five owls that he had been after, Astrid had no choice but to go out with him. On the date, Astrid realized that she had been being terrible prejudiced and began to give the boy a chance, falling hopelessly in love with Valerian. Ever since that night, they have been together; one of the longest couples that Hogwarts history has ever seen. After they both graduated from Hogwarts, Val took a job at the Ministry and Astrid waited for him like the hopeless romantic that she was. After four years of waiting and saving, Valerian presented the Selwyn family with a dowry that he had saved entirely by himself. Astrid’s parents were so impressed by what Valerian had been willing to go through for their daughter - as well as impressed by the level of devotion and patience that Astrid had displaced - that they refused to accept his dowry offering and instead gave the couple a large sum of money so that they could begin their life together.

Shortly after, in what would be called by “Witch Weekly” one of the “Most lavish ceremonies of the century,” Astrid and Valerian were married and Astrid took the Maxwell name...or at least most of it, seeing as she chose to hyphenate her name.

After almost several years of marriage Astrid finally convinced Valerian to let her have a baby and they gave birth to their only child, a son named Zeke Maxwell. Astrid loved her son from the moment she set eyes on him, always seeing more of herself in him than his father’s traits. Growing up, she doted on him immensely and was always utterly proud of everything that he did. She made sure to often shower him with lavish birthday presents and tell him how much she loved him. When Zeke was eight, Astrid got pregnant by accident and was thrilled, but she was too frightened to tell anyone else about it for fear that her husband might be angry. Instead she held it near and dear to her heart - however, after a tumble down the stairs, she lost the baby. To this day she has told no one about her experience and often finds herself being buried in her cooking and smoking to keep her mind off of it.
