( EXPECTO PATRONUM! ) : Learning to play catch with his father in the Russian country-side. It’s one of the only happy memories that he can truly recall from his childhood. The rest of his memories are cloaked in sadness.

( HISTORY ) : Maxim was born to Arkadi and Anastasia Petrov when they were in their thirties. They were overjoyed to have a new son to call their own and doted on him. He grew up in the rural country-side of Russia, far away from any large cities. Magic was no secret to Max. From the very beginning of his life, his parents showed him what magic could do, how it could help. Their life was a pleasant one, rooted mostly in the simple things. Max learned how to play ball with his father and he picked up some cooking tips from his mother. They were a happy family, one that wasn’t obsessed with power or magic or concerned with the dangers that lurked within the magical realm.

When Maxim turned 11, he recieved his letter to attend Durmstrang. Of course, his parents, both being graduates, urged him to attend. He did, of course, promising to visit them every summer and winter holiday. Unbeknownst to Maxim, Durmstrang had turned dark over the past couple of years. Many students attending chose to use their magical ability to explore a darker side of magic, something that bothered Max to no end. However, he pushed through, burying himself in his studies and learning as much as he could from his professors while avoiding those who were seemingly up to no good. A few years into his education, it became apparent that he wouldn’t be able to avoid the dark students forever. In his 6th year, He got into a fight with another student during a meal and the student vowed to have his revenge of Max, if it was the last thing that he did.

Of course, Max didn’t take the threat to heart, knowing that there were plenty of people at Durmstrang that offered up idle threats. The summer holiday came that year and Max went to the country house just like normal. Everything seemed to be going fine until one night, the night of the full moon, there was a scratching and banging on the front door. Max, thinking nothing of it, opened the door to greet their guest, but was horrified to see what stood outside of the door. Instead of the guest that he had been anticipating, a werewolf greeted him. The wolf bit Max’s shoulder and then tossed him aside, rendering him unconscious on the floor. After that, the werewolf went on to terrorize his family and ultimately murder the elderly Petrov couple.

The death of his family all but destroyed Max. He wasn’t sure what to do after that. He sent a letter to the Headmaster of Durmstrang, telling him that he was dropping out. He knew that the boy who had threatened him at school had been responsible for his parents’ death and he also knew that one day he would have his revenge. When his parents were laid to rest, Max fled Russia and moved to the Village of Hogsmeade where he got at job at Dervish and Banges, selling books. He kept to himself, never bothering to interact other then when he had to...knowing full-well that he had to keep his secret. Because, when he was bitten that fateful night in the summer, he had contracted lycanthropy and was now a werewolf...
