( PERSONALITY ) :Valerian Maxwell is a very methotical man, learning how to get what he wants and then manipulate the pieces in order to obtain it. He's always been one with a fondness for power, dating back to his days at Hogwarts when he was Head Boy; even in the ministry, he's always found a way to ensure that he was over a group of people so that he would be able to order them around, even if it was just minute and petty tasks.

Valerian is a very proud family man, taking great pride in his only son; whom he believes to be slightly lazy, so he pushes him to excel and has helped train him to prepare him to enter the political world after graduation from Hogwarts. As rough as he is however, Valerian has a soft spot for his wife; she is his one and only true weakness in the world as he was willing to sacrifice everything for her; and he has a major inability to tell her no.

( HISTORY ) : Valerian Quentin Maxwell was the lone son of Luther and Joanna Maxwell, a proud pure blooded family. He was raised at young age to appreciate magic and to have a full and complete control over it. However, Valerian was never fully able to grasp charms and transfigurations the way that his parents had thought he would. They had hoped that when he went to Hogwarts that perhaps the professors would be able to tutor him better than they could.

Valerian still remembers the feeling when he first stepped foot on Hogwart's ground; he'd never been more proud than when the sorting hat had screamed out "Slytherin" for all the world to hear. Within hours of being sorted he had already fallen in the sterotypical role of Slytherin, arrogant and proud. However, Valerian did not have much to be proud of in the Academic world as he struggled in the classroom.

To help prepare him for his fifth year Valerian’s parents paid for him to receive tutoring at Hogwarts, at first he protested the sessions and skipped the first three until he received a howler from his parents informing him to go or his Father would be coming to school to escort him to his tutoring sessions. Valerian reluctantly went to the first session and was struck instantly by the love bug when he met his eventual wife Astrid Selwyn.

Valerian courted Astrid hard for months before she eventually gave into the arrogant Slytherin and made him a bet, saying that if he could get FIVE or more OWLs she would agree to go on a date with him. Valerian studied his heart out, trying to do everything he could to ensure that he would be able to take Astrid on a date. Valerian’s hard work paid off as he received five OWLs and was rewarded with a date from Astrid.

Valerian was finally able to woo over Astrid on their date and they have been together ever since, much to the protest of Valerian’s parents who were absolutely livid at the thought of him dating a Hufflepuff girl, wanting to continue their proud heritage of an all Slytherin bloodline. Valerian didn’t flinch or blink an eye as he proudly told his parents that he would be asking for Astrid’s hand in marriage. After his Parents refused to give him money for the dowry, he was heartbroken, but he knew that there could be way. Valerian was able to get into the Ministry’s apprentice program upon graduation; not due to his grades but due to his spectacular interview skills. Valerian saved every knut he earned until he was able to offer Astrid’s parents what he felt was a decent dowry. Astrid’s parents were so impressed by what Valerian had been willing to go through for their daughter that they refused to accept his dowry and gave him a dowry. Shortly after, Valerian and Astrid were married.

After almost several years of marriage Astrid finally convinced Valerian to let her have a baby and they gave birth to their only child, a son named Zeke Maxwell.
