(FULL NAME ) : Theodore ‘Ted’ Elias Tonks[/blockquote]
( NICKNAMES ) : He thinks the name Theodore makes him sound like a house elf. Ted isn’t much better. Elias is much more dashing, in his opinion, but he can never get anyone to call him that, unfortunately.
( SEX ) : Male
( BLOOD TYPE ) : Muggle-born
( AGE & DOB ) : Seventeen, April 27
( YEAR ) : Seventh
( HOUSE ) : Ravenclaw
( CANON? ) : Yes
( OCCUPATION ) : Student
( AFFILIATION ) : Neutral, though will eventually join the Order.
( SEXUAL ORIENTATION ) : Heterosexual
( WAND ) : 16 inches, Phoenix feather core, and Rowan. This is his second wand however. The first wand broke in his third year during a mishap in his Care of Magical Creatures class. It was a fairly dramatic event resulting in the injury of three students, the escapement of a pregnant, foul-tempered unicorn, and Ted’s broken wand. The incident was, in fact, Ted’s fault. The first wand was 13 inches, with a phoenix feather core, and made of Dogwood.

( DEMENTOR'S KISS ) : The Care of Magical Creatures Incident… he’s practically repressed the memory, it was so embarrassing.
( MIRROR OF ERISED ) : Becoming a heroic, awe-inspiring auror that defends the innocent against villainous dark witches and wizards. He imagines there being epic poems written in his name and rescuing a few damsels.
(PERSONALITY) : If there’s anything that should be said about Ted, it’s that he’s not just book-smart, he’s smart-smart, and there is a definite distinction. While his classmates slave over their homework, spending hours memorizing the exact ingredients to a Befuddlement Draught (scurvy grass, lovage, and sneezewort, mind you) or poring over pages and pages of Curses and Counter-Curses, Gabriel has found that academics came very naturally to him. In Transfiguration he’s usually among the first to successfully turn his animal companion (a toad named Godfrey) into a table lamp, or a goblet into thin air. In Potions his concoctions rarely backfire, and even in Divination, the professor is positively certain Gabriel is “attuned to the other side.” The only exception to this rule would be Care of Magical Creatures; he finds animals don’t respond well to him, inexplicably. Overall, however, It doesn’t require hour upon hour of studying to ensure high marks on his exams, and his academic success has been achieved with what seems to be apparent ease, to the dismay and jealousy of his fellow Ravenclaws, of course.
This isn’t to suggest that Ted studies less than his classmates, however. Day after day, Ted can be found in the library, hovered over a table in a quiet corner, his face nose-deep into the pages of some dry textbooks. Ted studies just as much if not more than other students; not because he necessarily needs it, but because he actually enjoys it. For him, reading, and learning, and studying is the most gratifying experience that he can’t find anywhere else. Ted feels transported every time he reads, be it fiction or for scholarly purposes. Even more so than other wizards, he’s severely technophobic, wary of the muggle-made machinery, in spite of the fact that he was raised with these technological amenities. Ted firmly believes that a book can offer so much more than a radio or an automobile, and considers himself lucky that he’s been given such opportunities to pursue an education that others are denied.
Despite his academic prowess, however, Ted has always resented the fact that he’d been sorted into Ravenclaw. Though his natural smarts cannot be denied, in his heart, Ted has always fancied himself a hero. His greatest desire is to help those in need and rid the world of evil, in classic fairytale fashion. Truthfully, Ted really is quite the lionheart, though he might not be everyone’s first choice for heroic endeavors. Ted has a heart of gold that is gallant and bold, but he is unfortunately very clumsy. Tall and lanky, he’s often tripping over himself, like a newborn foal. The Care of Magical Creatures was due namely to his clumsy nature. This is his least favorite aspect of himself, because he feels it makes him appear buffoonish and not at all valiant.
In addition to his clumsiness, many find Ted to be very awkward, particularly in social circumstances. He never laughs at the right jokes and fails to contribute much to the conversation at hand. Usually when others, he sits idly by, twiddling his thumbs while hoping someone will bring up the 1637 Werewolf Code of Conduct, or The Uprise of Elfric the Eager, or that the conversation will eventually come to an end. In spite of his awkwardness, Gabriel possesses a moderate level of wit that is wasted on most people. His manner of humor is usually sarcastic and dry, often going right over people’s heads. On occasions when he does spout a joke, it is generally considered humorless to others because of his tendency to use wordplay or make obscure references to magical history.
Ted is very out-going and not at all shy. Although he lives in fear of making a fool of himself, he is always quick to volunteer for things and is the sort of stand up for what he believes in. Ted has intervened numerous times when a peer was being bullied, even though Ted inevitably got his ass handed to him. Ted is very amiable and approachable, and consequently, has always made friends very easily. There are many he would consider close friends, and he treasures them dearly.
Though he isn’t shy, Ted has always felt a bit displaced in the world in which he lives, probably because of his love for reading and the worlds of fiction. He constantly wonders if he was born in the right time and place. Perhaps he’d be better off if he’d been born in Impressionist Paris, 18th century New England, Medieval Ireland, et cetera. Inwardly, he feels a bit disjointed from everyone around him. This doesn’t mean he’s aloof or off-putting in anyway, just that he sometimes fancies the romanticized world he creates in his head rather than the one he’s actually in.
As a result of his love for fairytales, Ted is a hopeless romantic at heart. He is a fan of bold, romantic gestures and dreams of the day he’ll meet the Genevieve to his Arthur. He’s quite prone to ridiculous objects of obsession (without being stalker-ish, of course). He has had numerous fancies in the past, one in particular being Siobhan Cassel, whom he actually mustered the courage to ‘court’ but she spurned him ruthlessly. And publically. Since then he’s less forthcoming with his feelings and makes a habit of avoiding her.
Lastly, Ted is deathly afraid of being suffocated by Saran wrap. No rational explanation for that last one.

( HAIR ) : His medium brown hair is often worn short so he doesn’t have to deal with extensive day-to-day maintenance. When it does grow long in between trims, he tends to resemble a stray dog.
( EYES ) : Affable, brown eyes. They make him very approachable and he considers them the best part of his appearance.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : Ted is really quite average looking. Fairly standard features, no covetable bone structure or perfect complexion. However, he has a naturally kind face that makes people feel comfortable. He is quick to smile and quick to laugh.
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Tall and lanky, attributes to his clumsiness.
( ATTIRE ) : Ted has a fairly classic, low-key sense of style. Neutral color schemes. Nothing ever outlandish. Practical. Comfortable cardigans, slacks, and button-down shirts. Ted is also far-sighted and has to wear reading glasses, of which he dislikes.
( PLAY-BY ) : Joseph Gordon-Levitt

( PARENTS ) : Edward Tonks - Father, 52, Archaeologist, Muggle Annie Tonks - Mother, 48, Romance novelist, Muggle[/blockquote]
( SIBLINGS ) : Lorelai Tonks – Sister, 11, Muggle James Tonks – Brother, 24, Med student, Muggle
( OTHERS ) : None
( HISTORY ) : Ted comes from a very quirky family, which has undoubtedly had a significant role lin shaping the person he is today. He is closest to his younger sister, finding himself to be a bit protective of her. His brother, James, is the more serious of the three children, a dedicated medical student, and very successful in the academics of the Muggle word.
Ted has gone through his years at Hogwarts with a sort of anonymity. He’s perfectly fine with this, however, and probably isn’t even entirely aware of it. He does, of course, have his close friends. He is particularly popular with the ‘nerd’ crowd. As President of the Book Club and Vice-President of the Chess Club, Ted is fairly active in the academic social scene.
He’s always felt at home at Hogwarts. He can’t imagine being happier anywhere else. Finding out he was a wizard was like realizing his favorite fairytales were true. Imagine his enthusiasm when he discovered Merlin was a real wizard! Although he is an ardent lover of school, he is, also, a huge fan of Quidditch and always attends the matches.
As his years at Hogwarts draw to a close, however, Ted is becoming more and more overwhelmed with his future in the wizarding world.
