To the people that don’t really know Severus, he is depicted as a cold hearted, calculating, cynical, and bitter, as well as sarcastic. He has a commanding presence that exuded gravitas, authority and control, and effort. He tends to hold grudges and is extremely spiteful toward those whom he dislikes. He disdains Gryffindor, because to him, they are arrogant, attention-seeking, prats. Snape is a very repressed teenage boy, who is very solitary and has little to no friends. He has very poor interpersonal skills so he just sticks with allies rather than friends. Lily Evans is the exception to that.

He is insecure, vulnerable and yearns to be a part of something greater than he could ever imagine. He is very ordinary and proves to dress as such. His clothes being hand-me-downs, he is the laughing stock of mostly Gryffindors, and that only fuels his desire to hurt them, to make them pay for all the crimes they had committed against him. He also holds a very strong dislike to muggles do to his upbringing by his father, who is a Muggle man that despises magic and anything to do with it. It is because of the bullies, and his father that Severus is dabbling in the dark arts, is yearning to belong to an elite group called the Death Eaters.

( HISTORY ) :
On the morning of January 9, 1960, Severus Tobias Snape was born to Tobias and Eileen Snape. For the first ten years of his live, he knew nothing of love, unless it came from his mother. His father, who was a Muggle was very spiteful and unhappy toward his wife and child, and showed his unhappiness by beating his wife, and occasionally his son. Severus was extremely malnourished, pasty white, and sported hand-me-down clothes that made all the children around him laugh at him. It was a true blessing when he was nine years old, that he met a Muggleborn by the name of Lily Evans.

He had told her all about his family life, his worries,and about magic. He had cursed Petunia behind her back, and made Lily laugh as he tried to make her feel better about the way her sister was being about her, and anything magical. Severus was internally grateful that her parents didn't end up like his parents.

It was as best friends that Severus and Lily got on the train that led to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They had sat in a compartment with two other Gryffindor idiots, and in the end, Lily and he had moved to another compartment after being insulted enough. Severus was very spiteful that Lily had been sorted into Gryffindor along with that Potter idiot and Black. He had wanted her with him, and for one horrifying fleeting moment, had sought to be sorted into Gryffindor. Then, he was sorted into Slytherin, and he was very happy.

Over the years, Severus had made some new allies, and was disappointed to see that Lily had hated his friends. She was supposed to be friends with him, therefore with the others. But it seemed the others didn't want him to be around a Mudblood, so Severus had resorted to seeing Lily in private. Now Severus is a sixth year, nearly a year after he and Lily stopped being friends, and everything had went down the hill. He only hoped that Voldemort would let him in and that Lucius would protect him from the idiots around him.

His eyes was locked on the fluffy red cake, with the equally delicious looking red icing. His tongue ran over his lips as his mouth watered. This was the last bite, yet Severus didn't want it to end just yet. Yes, the Slytherin halfblood boy, the Half Blood Prince was fawning over cake. Not just any cake though, It was red velvet cake. Severus would never admit that he was a complete pansy when it came to cake, but there was a reason that he loved it, and that reason was sound asleep in the girls’ dorm in the Gryffindor Common Room, or at least he hoped so.

You see, Lily was the reason why Severus had developed a liking for the red velvety deliciousness. It was quite ironic really, because he had vowed to never like anything that had to do with the Gryffindor colors. Lily didn't count, because was an angel sent to him from heaven above. He was her best friend, at least until Potter showed up in the picture. He and his little pack were always causing trouble, and he couldn't help but get involved when it came to those idiots. He growled, nearly knocking the rest of his forked cake over, and he finished it off, so as to not ruin the moment, though he still had dark thoughts in his head, concerning Potter and his stupid Gryffindorkish friends.

Though, he had to admit, it was thanks to Potter that Severus liked red velvet cake now. James, like Severus, had refused to eat the thing, and Severus, wanting to prove to Lily, that he was the better match for her, had tasted the thing, and ever since, he had been in love with it.

So, here he was now, with a broken heart, and murderous thoughts, that he sat eating cake. He didn't know why he still bothered with the cake, but it was the last thing that connected him to Lily. Severus didn't understand why Lily didn't like his friends. Sure, they didn't like her because she was a mud-Muggleborn, but Severus had overlooked it. Why couldn't they? Why couldn't Lily realize that Slytherin’s were much better than those Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, and even Ravenclaws she hung out with? If only. If only she had morphed her into hating bigots like James. If only Severus could have told Lily that Gryffindors were horrible bullies, and that Slytherins were typically their prey? Ah, but he could never lie to her. He may be sneaky, snarky, and altogether unpleasant, but if Severus prided himself with something, it would be that he always told the truth. Well, he sometimes stretched it to an exaggeration when it came to Potter, but really, who could blame him? The worst part of the situation? He was now out of Red Velvet Cake. He looked to the house elves quickly brought him another piece, and Severus continued his staring contest with the delicious dessert. If only something as sweet as cake and Lily could be his forever. Then he’d have no worries in the world.
