( LIKES ) :[/blockquote]
( DISLIKES ) :
( STRENGTHS ) :
( WEAKNESSES ) :
( AMORTENTIA ) : Fresh-cut grass, air just before it rains, cherry blossoms, cinnamon.
( RIDDIKULUS! ) : Death. While Marlene largely feels fairly invincible, and her fear will never hinder her sense of adventure, the thing of her nightmares is the death of those she holds dear: her friends and family… and to an extent, herself.
( EXPECTO PATRONUM! ) : Her first discovery of one of the castle’s many secret passages—as a lover of adventure, finding such secrets in the castle she calls her home 9 months of the year is a special thing indeed. (Especially the one that leads to Honeyduke’s—score!)
( DEMENTOR'S KISS ) : Marlene’s worst memory takes place at age five – once, young Marlene ran off in the woods. Not on purpose—not to run away, but to play. Her family had been picnicking in a clearing, and she’d run into the trees for just a little while. When she’d returned, they’d been gone. It was an hour before they’d been reunited, but that sense of abandonment tightens her chest, just thinking about it. Ironically, the entire situation had occurred when her family realized she was gone, and had run off to search for her, frantic with worry.
( MIRROR OF ERISED ) : To become an Auror.
( PERSONALITY ) :
The truth is, Marlene McKinnon is a wild child if there ever was one. The only child of a strong Irish woman and a sturdy Scottish man, there was never any question of the will of young Miss McKinnon. However, her wild nature is only the beginning. Yes, Marls loves to explore, to adventure, to plunge herself into dangerous situations (oh, hello curse-happy Slytherins, care to dance?) and to boldly go where no one else dares… but there’s more to her than the bravado. Marlene’s fiercely protective, and loyal to a fault. Should any of her friends—or, depending, acquaintances—be in any sort of trouble, Marlene is the first to step in.
While she isn’t the best student, Marlene is good at magic. She’s one of the top witches in many of the more hands-on courses, excluding Potions. Her attention span just doesn’t quite reach that… however, her skills at dueling surpass her elders, quite often; she wouldn’t blink twice at knocking an older student – or for that matter, an adult – on their ass. As good as Marlene is at magical dueling, it stems from an innate skill at hand-to-hand combat, something that was honed at home. Her father was a hit-wizard for the Ministry, after all, and insisted his daughter knew how to protect herself… with or without a wand. At home, she is reigning champ: this past summer, she managed to knock her father flat, using his burly size against him. She’s quick, she’s clever, and most of all, she’s devious. While she has the capacity to be as wily as any Slytherin, however, she adheres to a strong set of rules—her own, however, and she has had her fair share of detentions due to the conflicting nature her rules occasionally have when pitted against school policy.

( HAIR ) : Marlene is the proud owner of a head of wild blonde hair. Her locks are generally as untamed as her spirit – wild waves that messily lay about her head. She cleans up nice, though—that mop straightens out easily with a quick charm and while Marlene’s far from a girly-girl, she’s been known to clip up her hair when she gets gussied up: for formal occasions or hot dates.
( EYES ) : Icy blue eyes, often accentuated by heavy make-up, are one of Marly’s most striking features. The color is almost grey, and are ringed with a darker shade. Fringed by long dark lashes, these almond-shaped eyes are often seen crinkled in the corner by Marlene’s wide smile.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : A round face adds an air of innocence to Marlene’s wild personality, proving that looks can be deceiving. Marls has a baby face – no sharp angles, a sweet nose, and as Auntie says, “pinchable” cheeks. However, Marlene does point out that her lips are not that of a child – thick, full lips have been called kissable by a few boys…
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Tall and thin, Marlene has never been accused of being pudgy. Her body is lean, and while she’s far from chiseled (can we just say ew) she has a toned body. She is a bit curvy, and well—her mother calls it “top-heavy.”
( ATTIRE ) : Generally, Marlene can be found wearing her school uniform. But when she’s not being forced into that, she’s likely to be wearing jeans and whatever t-shirt she can find. As casual as her tendencies might be, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to dress up – and should the situation (or simply the whim) arise for it, Marlene cleans up real nice. The one item, however, that she is nearly never without? Jewelry. A lover for sparkly things, Marlene’s rarely seen with earrings at the very least.
( PLAY-BY ) : Ashley Benson

( PARENTS ) :[/blockquote]
Alistair McKinnon, 49, Hit-Wizard, father (pureblood)
Aileen Brannigan McKinnon, 46, Healer, mother (pureblood)
( SIBLINGS ) : Only child.
( OTHERS ) : Alicia Brannigan, 42, housewife (aunt)
( HISTORY ) :
Marlene Siobhan McKinnon was born in Scotland, at 11:25 on the evening of December 3. As a baby, she had her mother’s brilliant red hair—but even before her first birthday, it had faded to its honey-gold shade. As a babe, Marlene was no trouble. She hardly cried unless she got just plain mad, and was generally of a mild temperament. Of course, this simply was not meant to last. With parents as stubborn as she had—oh, and boy, did Aileen and Alistair have stubborn streaks half a mile wide—it was to be expected that Marlene would inherit it eventually. However, what her steadfast parents had not bet on… was her wild nature.
It all began in her toddler years. Many parents call them the terrible twos, and the terrifying threes… but for the McKinnons, it was far worse than that. Their mild child had transformed, nearly overnight. Once Marlene could walk fast enough to be considered a run, that was the end of the peaceful existence the family of three had previously known. She would hide in nooks and crannies, climb into places that seemed impossible—nothing was too outrageous, and it only got worse as she grew older. The taller she got, the faster she became, and it got to the point that when they chased her, all they would see was the curl of blonde before she disappeared behind a corner or into one of her impossible hidey-holes.
When Marlene was five, she began to climb trees, and it was from that lofty point that she preferred to spend her days. Her parents—by this time, far beyond tired of chasing, and knowing that there was no convincing her otherwise—set up a pulley system in her favorite tree, so that they could send up a basket of things to her, come lunch time. Marlene has many a perfect childhood memory of lounging in the crook of a sturdy branch, hidden from sight by large leaves, and munching an apple and carrots that had been sent up. For all her stubbornness (and love of sweets, to be frank) Marlene didn’t mind fruits or vegetables; it was being told what to do, and not what to eat, that stuck in her craw.
At the age of eight, Marlene fell out of her beloved tree. Should she have been a regular child, born to two Muggles instead of two full-blooded magical beings, she’d have at least broken an arm, maybe a leg. Instead, little Marlene had been far too stubborn to receive any injuries: she bounced. She bounced, and then rolled down the hill towards home, and wide-eyed, squealed with glee. She raced inside to tell her parents of the new game—to be informed that this meant she was, as assumed, a magical child, and would in time attend Hogwarts. She then was forbidden to try it again. Pouting at the ban, she said “fine,” and stomped back outside. Fifteen minutes later, her parents rushed out of the house, bidden by a pained scream.
Marlene had broken her left arm, in two places.
Such escapades become the normal in the McKinnon household, nestled in the Scottish hillside. Marlene would do something, and either get scolded for it or get a broken bone or some other painful injury. Her parents learned, by the time Marlene was eight, never to forbid anything but the serious, for it only made their daughter more adamant to do exactly that. Marlene was a little bossy, it was discovered, when they enrolled her in primary school. She got marks for talking back to teachers, for bossing around other children, and on one occurrence, for beating up a boy. Her parents, however, were proud: they’d done much the same in their young years (particularly her father) and the boy had been a bully, and for that, she’d actually received an ice cream cake. Needless to say, her behavior was no better by the time she was eleven, and left the school.
Hogwarts changed things, however. While she still beat up the bullies, and still was bossy, and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, no matter who she was up against—Hogwarts was different. Hogwarts, of course, had things she wanted to know. For the first time in her life, Marlene was eager to learn what the professors wished to teach, and that made a significant impact on her behavior. Of course, there were still the occasional moments in which what her father called her McKinnon nature came shining through… but it was never so bad as it had been in primary school.
Throughout her school years, Marlene made a habit of protecting the weaker students, particularly those she befriended, from the bullies of Hogwarts: especially the Slytherins. Marlene had never had patience for the members of the opposing House, and in all her six years at the school, this has not changed one iota. Despite her significant attitude, however, Marlene is fairly well-liked amongst many of her classmates—Slytherins are not fans, and some Ravenclaws turn their noses up at her, but Marlene has come to call numerous Hufflepuffs, and her own housemates as close friends. While it had been a worry of parents, her aunt, and many other adults involved in her early years that Marlene would never be the type to play well with others, she has shown to shine in that department—so long as the others play well with her.
