According to Ollivander Cypress wands are associated with nobility. The great medieval wandmaker, Geraint Ollivander, wrote that he was always honoured to match a cypress wand, for he knew he was meeting a witch or wizard who would die a heroic death. Fortunately, in these less blood-thirsty times, the possessors of cypress wands are rarely called upon to lay down their lives, though doubtless many of them would do so if required. Wands of cypress find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing: those who are unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and others’ natures.

( AMORTENTIA ) : Clean laundry, wet pavement and smoky clothes
( RIDDIKULUS! ) : Her boggart takes the form of a hospital bed at St. Mungo’s because of her accident. She’s terrified that something will happen and she’ll end up there again.
( EXPECTO PATRONUM! ) : Receiving her teaching position at Hogwarts. She thought after she was forced to leave her job at the Ministry she wouldn’t find anything half as fulfilling or exciting or fun, but she’s found that working with the student’s at Hogwarts is just as fulfilling and fun and much less dangerous.
( DEMENTOR'S KISS ) : Being forced into early retirement from being a hit-witch.
( MIRROR OF ERISED ) : Revenge on the man who injured her and sent her to Mungo’s for so long.
( PERSONALITY ) : Miri has a lot of walls up in her life as a result of her past and as a result tends to be closed off from others when talking about personal things. She’s not quick to let people in and really get to know her, but she loves to have fun and loves to laugh, so on the surface she’s very easy to get along with. But the closer you get to her the harder she’ll try to push you away. She takes her responsibilities very seriously, and she’s afraid to let people get too close to her because she’s afraid she’ll drag them down in some way. Her life has been a train wreck and she doesn’t want anyone to have to deal with all of her emotional baggage.
Miri is resilient and self-reliant .She learned at a very young age not to rely on anyone but herself, and after her injury she realized just how optimistic and resilient her spirit is. Even after they expected her to die, even after she lost her job, her family, everything, she still found a way to pick up the pieces and go on.
She’s very passionate, honest, trustworthy. She tries to let her students know that they can talk to her about anything and everything, even if they’ve done something wrong. She never wants her students to feel alienated in any way when they’re around her. Just because she doesn’t talk about herself doesn’t mean that she’s not a superb listener. She loves to laugh and have fun and as a result often makes more jokes than she should in front of her class. She tries to be professional and she does take her work very seriously, but her fun-loving, sarcastic nature is something that she can’t really suppress, even in the classroom. She’s impulsive and a risk-taker, something that a lot of her fellow Hufflepuffs used to hate about her while she was in school. She was never any good at following the rules, which is one of the reasons she can relate so well in the classroom. She expects a lot of her students, buts he knows they’re human, too. She’s been there.
Miri is very controlling, and when there are situations that involve her that are out of her control she starts to panic. She has a very controlling personality, but only when it comes to situations involving herself. She likes to be in control of her actions and her thoughts and what happens to her, and when situations arise where she is unable to do that she panics and begins to stress very easily. It’s kind of a problem because it creates a lot of unnecessary stress in her life, but she can’t help it, it’s a part of who she is. It always has been.
Mir is stubborn and very set in her ways of doing things. If she knows how to do something one way then that’s the best way to do it and there’s no arguing with her. She’s still very impulsive in the sense that once she gets an idea in her head she follows through with it on the spot, and she often acts and speaks without thinking long-term, which is how she got injured on the job.

( HAIR ) : She has long blonde hair that falls below her collarbone, and it’s often either down and straight or down and messy, but it all depends on what time she got up and how much time she spent on herself.
( EYES ) : Miri has hazel eyes like the sky. They’re either blue or grey and they’re often more vibrant after she’s had a good cry.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : She has cupid’s bow lips, high cheekbones, a somewhat bulbous nose, and a round chin. She also has dark eyebrows despite her naturally blonde hair.
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : She’s 5’9 so she’s pretty tall for a woman, and her heels often push her above 6 feet. She weighs about 130lbs but she’s almost all toned muscle, and not lanky in the slightest. She’s a force to be reckoned with after all she had to go through to become a hit-witch.
( ATTIRE ) : After she was forced to leave the world of being a hit-witch she rediscovered her love for high-heels and wears them with absolutely everything. She likes wearing dressy tops and she’s rarely ever caught dead in sweats unless she’s sick. She loves skirts and dresses. While she’s in class she tries really hard to look professional, but it doesn’t always work. She wears her cloak over everything, of course, but what she wears underneath isn’t always the most professional.

( PARENTS ) :[/size][/blockquote]Natalie Miller, Muggle Lawyer, DeceasedAustin Miller, muggle doctor, deceased
( SIBLINGS ) : Owen Miller, 16, Gryffindor
Miri cares more about Owen than herself, and she always has. He was excited but not excited about her job at Hogwarts, and he still acts a bit awkward when he sees her in the hall, but she’s conscious not to treat him any differently than she would anyone else. She cares for him, but she definitely doesn’t want to embarrass him.
( OTHERS ) : N/A
( HISTORY ) : Miri was born to Natalie and Austin Miller on a warm day in early June. From a very young age she showed that she was different from other kids her own age. She herself knew she could do things that other kids couldn’t, but the real extent of her difference from other children came when her younger brother Owen was born. She was eight at the time and she couldn’t wait to hold her baby brother. She was so excited to have another child around. Being an only child tended to get very lonely to Miri, and none of the other kids wanted to play with her because she was different. She was always a bit more graceful than they were, as if by magic. And then, when her baby brother came home and was placed in her arms she threw him up in the air to catch him, but he never came back down. With her abilities she was having him float mid-air. Her parents were mildly horrified, and for three years they sent Miranda to a therapist, thinking that what had happened was an act of God, not magic.
And then she turned eleven and she got her Hogwarts letter, accompanied by a teacher of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She would be starting in September. The news made Miri ecstatic. She couldn’t believe she was magical and she truly thought that this was the best thing in the entire world. But she was afraid her parents would hate her for what she was. They did make her go see a therapist after all. So after her parents spent a very long time speaking with Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, she re-entered the kitchen. She stared at them with her big blue eyes, pouting.
“Can I go?” she asked, and when she expected her father to stomp his foot and say absolutely not, he ended up picking her up and spinning her around and telling her she was so special and that they were both so proud. She would be going to Hogwarts.
She was easily sorted into Hufflepuff because of her fun-loving, loyal nature and her inexplicably large heart. Miri has always been a very caring soul, and she has always put others before herself. While she was in Hogwarts she was keeper for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and loved every second of the sport. She was good at it, too, but she knew she would never want to play it professionally. She felt like that would take all of the fun out of it. She was in her third year when tragedy struck. Miri had just successfully one of the few games Hufflepuff did win. They were never really the best team, mostly because winning isn’t something that’s important to most Hufflefpuffs. She’d been walking into the changing room when Dumbledore found her and told her the news. There had been a fire at her house, an explosion… her parents didn’t make it out alive.
She collapsed to her knees in tears, sobbing, and all she kept asking was ‘what about Owen? What about Owen?’ Dumbledore knelt down to her level, picked her up from the floor and stood her up straight. He looked at her for a minute, and Miri tried her best to control her sobs, fearing the absolute worst.
“Owen is fine. Your father made sure he made it out before he went back in for your mother,” Dumbledore said before hugging her. He said nothing more, and somehow knowing that her five-year-old brother had made it out gave her some semblance of comfort. But knew the two of them were left with nothing now. Their parents had excellent life insurance policies, so money wouldn’t be the problem, but caretaking would be. Miri was only 13. She didn’t know how to cook or clean or anything. But she learned. She used some of her parent’s money to pay caretakers to take care of Owen and teach her the housework. She learned to cook, clean, and be independent. By 13 she knew how to do more for herself than a lot of seventh years did, but she never let that get to her head. She remained level-headed and hard-working through it all. And when she graduated from Hogwarts she took a year off to make sure that Owen was okay, and got him prepared for Hogwarts. She felt like he would be much safer there than he ever was while he was at home. She was constantly worried about him while she was at school and he was at home, but she worked her ass off for her grades, and achieved E’s or O’s in ever OWL and NEWT she took.
When her year off was over she decided she wanted to become a hit-witch. It was a noble and rewarding profession, and it was one that she knew she would fit quite well into, despite her impulsive nature. She passed her trainings with glowing recommendations, and at age 21 she was able to call herself a hit-witch after a lot of hard work and training. And she got to work doing her job right away. She lost herself in her work, getting caught up in criminals and paperwork, she always had a smile on her face. She loved the active, never-ending, always-changing environment of the office and she became very good friends with her co-workers.
When the rumors of Lord Voldemort began Miri knew that she and her coworkers would be the ones on the front lines of defense for the Ministry. She got a rush from chasing down Death Eaters and dueling and trying to lock them up. But eventually Miri became too invested, and fate decided to test her again.
They were standing outside a supposed Death Eater meeting house, waiting for the signal. They’d heard the death eaters had captured muggles and were holding them hostage, torturing them for no reason. Miri could hear the screams, she could practically feel their pain, and she couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t wait for the signal. She burst through the door by herself. One of her team had told her to stop, not to do it, but she didn’t listen.
She kicked the door open and there she saw several death eaters… and no muggles. It had been a trick, a trap for someone just like her. There was a radio in the middle of the room… That was where the screaming was coming from. Her eyes widened and the next thing she knew there were jets of light in red and dark blue and black, and the entire world disappeared.
She was brutally tortured and attacked, even before her team could get to her, and by the time they found her she was unconscious, bleeding, terribly wounded. Fatally wounded, they thought. She was rushed to St. Mungo’s and remained in a coma for a month. During that month the Ministry and her division decided that she was too much of a risk to keep her on the force. When she awoke she was confused. Own was there, and so was her co-worker Derek. He was the one who broke the news to her.
“Miri, I’m sorry,” Derek said as he placed a hand over hers. “They’re making you leave Division 1.”
The news shattered her heart into a million pieces, and while she remained under careful watch at St .Mungo’s she became quite depressed, and felt quite lost. This was all she knew, how could she ever pick up somewhere else? Her heart was broken, but her spirit did not waver, and a few months later she went to Hogwarts to see if they had any teaching positions just because. She wasn’t sure if she would like teaching, but she figured… she didn’t really have anything to lose. Turns out they were looking for a new muggle studies professor. She explained to Dumbledore the kind of curriculum she’d want to teach. She told him that she wanted Muggle Studies to concentrate on a new aspect of muggle life aside from just looking at the typical muggle subjects. She wanted to concentrate on arts and entertainment, on sports, or real muggle life, and teach students what it was really like to be a muggle. Dumbledore seemed delighted by the approach and she was hired.

( EXPERIENCE ) : Since the beginning of tiiiime
( CONTACT INFO ) : such as aim, msn, yahoo, email addresses, etc.
( HOW'D YOU FIND US? ) : T’was invited by this lovely lady named Quinn!
( CODE WORD ) : Alas, earwax!
( ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE ) : can be of any quality or quantity, and from any site genre you wish.atie was thankful to have a night off from Quidditch. It turned out that things went badly with the Harpies. Luckily, just as that opportunity seemed to pass her by another had opened right in her face. The Appleby Arrows were in the market for a new chaser, and as fate would have it, that had been her favorite team since she'd first laid eyes on the sport. They pushed her harder than Oliver Wood ever had, but she was thankful for the practice, the chance to get better, and the wind in her hair. She was thankful for her teammates and the fun she was able to have every single day. Thus far she'd done a damn good job, helping lead the team to a current record of 5-1.
She'd always adored Quidditch, and despite the fact that she always told herself she'd be a great Auror, which she still thought she would be, she knew she'd always be a better chaser. She was always more graceful in the air than she ever had been on her feet. And they didn't need a clumsy, eighteen-year-old auror running around and getting in everyone's way. It had been a few months since she'd thought about that day, the day her life seemed to crumble down around her feet. This was one of the first times she'd looked back and realized that they were right to send her home. It was a momentary victory as a smile spread across her face.
"What's so funny, Bell?" Derek asked from beside her, and she shook her head, the grin never falling from her face.
"Don't worry about it, King. Just your face," she said sticking her tongue out at him. Katie was certainly the newest member of the team, but she'd fit right in since the day she got there. There was only one other girl on the team, the keeper. Camille. She was a nice enough girl, but she wasn't quite as loud as Angelina and Alicia had been over the years at Hogwarts. So, instead, Katie often found herself surrounded by the rambunctious boys that were on the team. Katie had always been more fond of mischief than behaving. It was one of the reasons she'd become such good friends with Fred and George.
The thought of the twins saddened her slightly, but it was quickly dismissed as she remembered her conversation with George. He'd promised her he would try to get better, and she believed him. It was an intense day, that day, but she felt like a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders, and that she was able to move forward without worrying quite so much. The lines of communication between her and George were open, which was so much more than what she could have said a few months ago. No, a few months ago George seemed to be as gone as friend. Well, no, it wasn't quite so permanent as that, but that's certainly what it felt like. It felt like that with all of her friends, really. They'd all up and disappeared, leaving her to fend for herself and get eaten up by the big bad world of the Ministry by her lonesome. Of course they all knew how it would turn out - Katie failed out of Auror training for being too loud, too clumsy, too opinionated, but above all, she was too impulsive. Good thing impulse was a good thing in Quidditch, then, eh?
Katie was pulled from her thoughts as she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. She watched carefully as the man approached the woman from behind. It was going fine until he decided to lay a hand on her. She could see the woman tense up even from where she was, and her eyes narrowed slightly.
"What's up Bell?"
Katie looked back up to another one of her teammates, Tristan and grinned wickedly.
"I'm going to go have some fun," she grinned, and the group of boys let out a rumble of knowing chuckles.
"Just be careful," Derek urged with a glare before making a slight face. Sometimes it felt like he couldn't choose between threatening and actually being worried for her safety. Personally, Katie thought he worried far too much. Katie had trained to be an Auror, for quite some time. Just because she didn't quite make it, didn't mean that she hadn't picked up every lesson they'd ever taught her. She took a final sip of the firewhiskey that had been sitting in front of her. It was a small glass, and mixed. She could drink it straight, but who in Merlin's name would want to do that? Not her, certainly.
She rose from her place and walked over to the man, poking him on the shoulder. He released the woman's arm, momentarily distracted as he turned to see Katie standing there with the sweetest smile she could manage. The man smiled at her, and you could tell just from looking at him that he was pissed off his ass. Katie made a slightly disgusted face, and then he began speaking. He suggested they go somewhere, but Katie didn't allow him to finish his sentence. Her expression changed completely as she punched him right in the stomach as hard as she could. The man was larger than her, sure, but he was drunk, and an idiot. The man doubled over before letting out a roar. Katie let out a loud laugh before looking over to the man at the bar. She raised a slight brow at him.
"Oi! This guys is pissed beyond repair, Rob! Get him outta here," Katie shouted and the man glared at her before two people came over and escorted him out of the bar. Katie spent a lot of time on this bar. Maybe too much. Every time they had off from practice she and the boys, and even sometimes Camille would get together and have a nice drink together. The boys at the table were laughing their heads off and Katie smirked in their direction before she looked toward the woman at the table, vaguely recognizing her from somewhere, but exactly where she couldn't place. Still, she should probably see if the girl's alright, right?
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you at all?" she asked generally curious. The woman had looked almost terrified when the man laid her hands on her, and Katie knew that feeling far too well. She knew what it was like to be hit, hit by someone you loved, hit by someone who supposedly loved you. But that wasn't what was important right now.
