Poppy Pomfrey stood in front of the large potions cabinet that was in her office section of the Hospital Wing. Her fingers brushed over the contents that were on the second level of the cupboard, surveying all the potions that were left there. Her fingers touched the bottle that was hidden behind two others and she pulled it out quickly, examining it. It was the Wolfsbane Potion that she had recently cooked up with the help of Slughorn. It was supposed to make the werewolf transition go smoother, but she had her doubts. In her opinion, there wasn’t enough wolfsbane in the potion to keep the demons that ailed the werewolves down for more than a few hours. But, she supposed that wasn’t the point. The point was to keep them aware of their situation; to keep them coherent throughout the whole thing. Then, they would be able to keep tabs on themselves and Poppy wouldn’t have to worry about another student being sent into her care with the horrors of a scratch or bite. She bit down on her lip, ”Poor Remus-” She breathed as she thought about the boy that had sparked her interest in the entire thing.
She turned the bottle over in her palm, trying to read the label that she had scrawled on the back, ”Two capfuls or one?” She asked herself, tilting her head slightly to the side. The lighting in the Hospital wing was terrible at night without the lanterns turned on, but Poppy hated using them when she didn’t need them. A bloody waste of fuel in her opinion. It was then that she noticed that the light that was coming from the doorway was interrupted for a moment and Poppy realized that there was someone blocking it. A shadow was cast from the doorway all the way to the edge of the cabinet where the light seemed to stop. Which meant that someone had been standing there for a good deal of time before she had noticed their presence. Slightly unnerved by the thought, Poppy kept her eyes trained on the cabinet, trying not to let on that she was suddenly spooked by their appearance.
”Have you come to spy on me, or are you hurt?” She asked, her voice cutting through the silence. She didn’t bother to turn around to see who it was that was standing in the doorway; it didn’t matter to her. If it was a patient, then they would have their fixings and be on their merry way and if it wasn’t - well, she would deal with them accordingly, ”It’s a little late to be out past hours. So tell me-” She turned around slowly, sliding the Wolfsbane Potion into the pocket of her white apron and then moving a few steps forward, trying to see who it was that was standing there. The light from behind them distorted their face, making it impossible to identify who it was that had made the appearance in the Hospital Wing tonight, ”What’ll it be tonight?”
