Of all the bad dates Lenora had been on, this one was among the worst. As she pretended to be interested in his long-winded recant about his trip to the Bermuda Triangle, Lenora found herself wished he'd have gotten lost there just as the muffles theorized. It was a shame, really. He has stunning blue eyes and a nice strong jaw. His hair laid perfectly in a slicked back, over manicured way. Which of course meant he was entirely outside of her normal range of preferences. Normally, Lenora liked rugged men with bad boy attitudes. The problem with that was most of them bad other bad habits; like never calling, or sleeping with other women, or just being a jack ass in general. Which was why she had let her sister set her up with a co-worker.
This was a mistake she would never make again. Captain Sophistication had moved on to talking about the time that he met the Minister of Magic "Well, technically he wasn't minister at the time, but technicalities!!" Lenora was starting her second martini without second thought. He was so pretentious and boring that she only found comfort in alcohol. Even her ass and legs were going numb from the uncomfortably stiff chairs of the over priced resturant. "I'm sorry," she interjected, though she was not sorry at all. "I just...had a...palm reading. And she told me I should stay home or risk...getting run over by a gang of fast flying broomsticks. I'm sorry, I just remembered. I have to go."
Standing, Lenora finished off her drink and grabbed her coat and bag before he could say anything. "I'll owl you," she called just as she dissapeared.
The bar she escaped to was quiet for a Saturday. An old man slept at the end of the counter, occasionally muttering something unintelligible. Three cackling witches say in the booth in the corner, seemingly celebrating something. The bar tender idly cleaned glasses, over and over again. Lenora didn't mind, she wasn't there to be social. Her house wasn't far from here, within walking distance. So, she could drink as much as she liked and then stumble her way home. Ordering a few shots of tequila, she sat down to get started on just that, ignoring the sound of the door opening and closing behind her.
