S he wanted a thousand pieces of art in her house. Nearly every corner of Jimena’s fairly modest flat was covered in some sort of print. Oil on canvas, a few knock-offs that she had gotten as parting gifts from her old job, a sculpture that her mother had procured in the ruins of Barcelona a few years ago. Each piece was beautiful and each as special as the last. Chewing slightly on her bottom lip, Mena straightened her newest addition: A landscape done by one of the most important Spanish Wizarding Artists, Fernando Adula, “Atroz.” She breathed, tilting her head slightly to the right as she continued to look at the one-of-a-kid piece. It was lovely on its own, but right next to the Warhol duplication, it looked starkly…dull. That was what it occurred to her. Perhaps she needed an intermediary. Another piece to complete the trio and blend one into the next. Yes, that was precisely what she needed. Grabbing her purse and a few of her necessities, Jimena prepared herself for a visit to the outside world. With a pop, she found herself on the streets of London, her pace never wavering, even as she appeared out of thin air. It was a miracle that she didn’t get caught apparating into muggle-London in such a manner, but somehow she had always managed to stay under the radar. When Mena came to the open-air market, she found herself fluttering to many of the different tables, looking at the art and other merchandise. Everything was beautiful in its own right, but none of it was…perfect. None of it was the perfect blend of modernity and romanticism. None of it struck her the way she wanted to be struck. Mena pressed her fingertips into her lips as her eyes locked onto a piece that she had overlooked on first sight. She hardly realized the rush of people between her and the art for it had nearly captivated her…at least until she saw a semi-familiar face in her view. LOTS OPEN |
