brief history: The Sterlings were proud as punch of their son. He was the darling of the family as the only boy of four children. His younger sister resented him for the attention he received, but his two older sisters doted on him every bit as much as their parents. Leslie grew up spoiled and privileged. He wanted for nothing and always, always got his way. Thankfully for everyone's sakes, he was not a rotten child. His demeanor was sweet and mild. He got his way not by throwing fits but by gazing up with his big blue eyes, which nobody could refuse. The family estate was out in the countryside, so Leslie had only his sisters for company. When both of his elder sisters left for Hogwarts, he was almost inconsolable. The years with only his little sister did not improve their relationship. She tormented him mercilessly. He began hiding from her, taking pencils and paper to amuse himself. It turned out that he had a natural talent for drawing, and by the time he went off to school, he was already quite the little artist. His intellectual and artistic pursuits were encouraged at Hogwarts. He flourished in Ravenclaw, surrounded by like-minded peers, and ultimately he remained inside the utopian bubble in which he had grown up.
Life after school came as a bit of a shock. He hadn't planned what to do with himself, being a person who tended to get caught up in the moment. He drifted around aimlessly for several years; painting, photographing, dabbling with inventions – but none of it brought him a vocation. He lived off the family money as a man of leisure. After his father passed away, it was suggested (very kindly) that as the heir to the Sterling fortune, he ought to have a career before settling into the life of a wealthy hermit in his mid-thirties. He bumbled around from job-to-job for a year, before the old art professor at Hogwarts died of a tragic kiln accident. Leslie applied and was surprised to get the position.
