He sat in the silence of the room, his notebook open and quill in hand. He found it easier to think in the dark confines of the empty potions room. Not that anyone in the common room was bothering him, it was just the dull sounds that interrupted his thinking. Lucius sat and made small notes. He was composing a letter to his father, one he hoped would gain him a little more respect from the man. He was sharing the news of his marking, not that he could actually say that in the letter. Instead he used muddled language, words his father would understand but wouldn't cause suspicion of the owl was intercepted.
Pausing to look at his arm for a moment and wicked smile crossed the boys face. He had been waiting to be marked for as long as he could remember and now that it had happened he had trouble containing his happiness. The Dark Lord had been everything he expected him to be and more. Lucius would be a great warrior, he had to be. Anything short of perfection for the Dark Lord would not be tolerated and Lucius knew better than most what happens to those that are not up to par. His father had made it clear to him that failure was not an option. He was a malfoy afterall, one of the best in the wizarding world. No one but the Dark Lord was above him and that was not about to change.
Making a few more notes he stopped and places his quill back in the ink pot. The letter was now a little less than 3 pages and his hand was gone numb from holding the quill. With a heavy sigh he relaxed a little, pondering what his father might reply with. He expected great praise. Maybe even a gift to solidify him as a true Death Eater. There were many things that his father owned that Lucius wanted as a boy. He was always told that when he was ready they would be his. Maybe now he was ready? He could only hope. Nothing would make him more proud than to finally have his father approval. He had the Dark Lords, his father would have to follow suit. Wouldn't he?
Lost in thought, Lucius didn't notice another person entering the room. His back to the door didn't help him either. It wasn't till he heard the footsteps getting closer that he snapped out of his thoughts and turned quickly to face his intruder.
