There had always been something strange about Miss. Magnolia Dupree to the outside world. When people walked by her, they were struck with the oddest feeling that there was at least a little piece of her that wasn’t quite human. They would stare too long, find themselves trying to puzzle their way through her, and finally, they just gave up upon finding that there was nothing all too peculiar about the American, except for the fact that she took her tea iced and sweetened. Perhaps she was an enigma, they reasoned. A very strange, mildly terrifying quandary in the form of a female person. Little did they know that this uneasy feeling was attributed to the very fact that Magnolia wasn’t human in the slightest - she was a vampire.
For a moment, Mags paused in the Entrance Hall, observing the hallowed halls of Hogwarts. It was not her first visit to the school, despite the fact that she herself had been educated at the Salem Witches’ Institute. Holding out her hand to receive the handle of her suitcase from the gentleman on her left, she raised both of her eyebrows, “Don’t dilly dally, Eugene. We haven’t got all day. I’m expected,” Her soft voice fluttered through the air between them. The weight of the suitcase fell into her hand as she pulled it to her body.
Dumbledore didn’t often ask for replacements so far into the term, and Maggie could only assume that something had gone terribly wrong with the last Astronomy Professor. Not that she minded, too terribly, Scotland had always been one of her favorite countries, “Now, make yourself scarce, won’t you?” It wasn’t a question, but more of a statement. Mags never raised her voice, she had been trained out of it at a very young age, “I’ll let you know if I need anything more.” The man that had served as her loyal butler for the past six years, but right now, she wouldn’t need his services. He would most likely return to her summer home in Georgia to make certain it was ready for her return when the term finished. With a curt nod, Eugene retreated out of the castle, leaving the brunette momentarily alone.
Rolling her shoulders back, she climbed to the top of the staircase and put her suitcase down. She perched on top of it, like an owl observing with a watchful eye the night sky, as her eyes scanned the beauty of the castle. Salem had been pretty back in its heyday, but it was nothing like this - mile high ceilings, candelabras straight out of the medieval times. This was for Royalty. This was for her. She laughed to herself ever so slightly, amused by the thought of being Royalty, before realizing that she could hear someone’s footsteps against the marble tiling of the floor a few yards away. She chose not to move, welcoming her first guest into the world of Miss. Magnolia Dupree.TAG; OPENNOTES; --
