The sun was gleaming through the trees and the weather looked fairer than it had been in awhile. Both things of which, we're giving little miss Winchester a case of restlessness as she peered out the corridor window. She only had one more class left. Herbology. Now she didn't mind herbology. Sometimes she even found it interesting. But right now it was the furthest thing on her mind. Climbing some trees, taking her broom through the sky, just laying out on the lawns now that they weren't encompassed with snow. Those were on her mind, in fact they were just about the only thing on her mind.
But herbology was outside today anyway. Surely she could muster the attention to sit through it. Right? Just a little while of it and then she was free to go off. But that mischievous nagging voice in the back of her mind, probably where the little voice of discipline and academic duty had been at one point, was rambling away. If she skipped herbology, she'd have much more time. Besides, they were repotting today. How in the world was that challenging enough for her? Fill pot with dirt, take plant from little pot, put into big pot. Rinse repeat until the clock ran out. It was tedious! And so horrifically boring!
If she went to the forest, she wouldn't even be seen to be missed, she reasoned as she changed. And she rarely missed classes, so one couldn't possibly hurt. Who needed to learn how to repot those whosiwhatsits anyway. People who were going to do something with herbology for a career, that's who. Or gardeners. Neither of which was she. With quiet leaps and bounds, she ran her way out of the castle and made a b line for the forest. For being so forbidden, you'd have thought they'd have someone keeping watch.
Granted, that would have made Ezra's trips a. It more difficult, but still, the thought always popped into her head. Did they think the forest was scary enough? They were mistaken if that was the case. Centaurs were downright friendly, er...well, to animals atleast. In her other form they had no problem with her, however when she was cute and fuzzy, they still had some animosity towards wizarding folk. But they never intentionally tried to scare her or bother her, so that counted for something. The biggest and scariest thing in there that she'd ever encountered was that acromantula with Sirius. But she knew how to keep herself safe from those.
No, forbidden maybe. But scary? Terrifying? Even just a little spooky? The words didn't connect to the place in her mind. Untamed forest, unexplored forest, not sitting in a green house for the rest of the day forest. That's what it was. As she broke through the tree line she looked back. One should always check for being followed when going where you ought not to. And she didn't want to get herself on bad terms with a prefect either. But in her excitement, and subsequent cockiness of being unseen, she had forgotten her most important rule.
Mind your step. More specifically in this instance, watch where on earth your going because you might run into something....As the petite girl had been running full speed with her eyes elsewhere, she hadn't seen the rather large tree root jutting up from the forest floor and subsequently tripped, sending her her flying forward rather comically, looking confused, and completely bewildered...if a bit sheepish as she looked around to see if anyone had seen. And as luck would have it, someone had..
"Uhm..ahem...hello there!"
