Noah laughed. Most girls he knew didn’t like bread. Or at least white bread. Apparently it was bad for you or something. He didn’t really listen. Noah had a crazy fast metabolism. Besides, he worked out. He knew which foods were better for him, but so far in his young life, eating what he wanted didn’t stop him from having the body that he desired. Maybe when he grew older he would begin listening to all that crap. “I think food in general is pretty friggen awesome,” he responded and took another bite. “A lot of chicks even eat seaweed and kale and stuff. I didn’t even know that stuff was like… edible. I guess if it grows from the ground it’s good for you,” he tried to sound smart, but he wasn’t sure if he was succeeding. He assumed Eileen would know about that stuff considering she spent so much time in the Hospital Wing.Noah finished his half of the sandwich and wiped his hands on his thighs. He was surprised when she rested her head on his shoulder. It was such a sweet gesture. He put his arm around her shoulders gently, feeling like she was some sort of fragile and breakable object; that any wrong move might destroy her. How was one supposed to react to someone who was so incredibly different? Someone who made you feel good? He wished he was smarter for her. Eileen was probably bored silly. No doubt with other people she had quite the intellectual conversation. With him they were talking about bread.“Are you tired? Did you want me to take you back to the castle now?” he asked quietly. He pushed her plate away from them toward the middle of the table just for something to do with his hands. He didn’t want Eileen to go, but at the same time he didn’t want her to grow bored of him and then not want to see him again.
