It was an off day. The Valentine's dance was pretty much uneventful, but she did have fun and she enjoyed seeing Benji with a smile on his face for once, even though it hurt ever so slightly. There was still a little bit of snow on the ground and the sky was crystal clear and the threat of snow was gone as the seasons were working on changing. Spring was coming upon them and Adeline was not looking forward to the warmer months.
She's talked with Grayson a little, but has avoided the majority of her friends in recent light. Talking with Cait and Eddie meant that she would have to come face to face with Benji and she wasn't ready for that. Not yet. Even though she forgave him almost instantly after the incident, it still killed her inside knowing that she pushed him away. Wrapping her jacket tightly over her shoulders and rubbing her hands on the jeans that covered her thighs, Addie couldn't help but make way to the lake.
The surface was almost like glass with only a few ripples where the waves hit the shore. Looking down to her feet as she walked the girl hadn't recognized anything out of the ordinary. It was quite common for students to be lingering on the grounds after or even between lessons, but Adeline hadn't been paying attention to them. Lifting her head and fluffing out the locks that fell over her shoulders, she spotted someone not too far from her. If she hadn't looked up perhaps she would have collided with them.
Her teeth clenched as her jaw protruded ever so slightly. Looking on at the boy, she hadn't really recognized him. Maybe they had classes together, maybe the didn't who knew. Addie wanted to talk to him, throw herself out there, but then quickly she closed in on herself finding a somewhat dry spot under a tree. Sometimes she found it difficult to muster up the courage to talk to anyone and since she was still emotionally hurt she couldn't even condone talking to him.
Sitting down in the grass, Addie looked out across the lawn again curious as to what the boy was doing. She hadn't realized she was staring and when she did the book was brought inches from her nose.
