Lanta bit down on her lip as she stared down the dimmed corridor. This was routine Seeker practice, Sunday had told her. All the greatest Seekers in the world could catch the snitch in the dark. She had been the keeper under Hufflepuff’s previous Seeker had been yanked out of school by over-protective parents after he had gotten the flu. Then there had been a huge shift in positions, everyone moving from one to the other trying to find their niche. She would admit - she wasn’t the greatest Seeker in the world and this probably didn’t bode well for her professional career.
She thought she saw some movement to her right and immediately spun in that direction, but there was no glimmer of gold to be seen. Damn, this was so much harder than she had expected. Atlanta couldn’t help but wonder if this was some sort of preparation for the night-time match against Ravenclaw that they had coming up.
Then she saw it - out of the corner of her eye, sparkling near the window to her right - the golden snitch. Immediately she felt her muscles tense, her calves poised for pouncing. Being a Seeker was so much more focus than being a keeper, she mused. And then, in one swift motion, she lunged toward the window. Little did Atlanta Vaisey know that the shimmer that she saw was a reflection of the snitch that was a few feet away from her on the other side of the hall. The momentum of her body was too much and she found herself barreling toward the window.
Before she realized what had happened, her head slammed into the glass pane, ”Oof!” Lanta yelled as she stumbled backwards a bit. She felt someone’s foot under hers and realized that she had completely backed up into someone, ”Merlin! Sorry! Sorry!” Scrambling to try and free herself from running into them again, or worse hitting them, Lanta spun around and found herself face to face with Mikael Erixon, ”You know, it’s rude to sneak up on people in the dark.” She breathed, unsure of what else to say.
