Two weeks post release from Azkaban, the color around his eye sockets were starting to return to normal. His father was dead, his mother left to rot until Rodolphus decided something needed to be done with her. Of course Rabastan would leave her for him, he wouldn't want it any other way. Integra was recently marked, and Benjamin Myers ended up bringing her to his house in Hogsmeade. They both were healed and brought back to normal. A conversation was had and it clarified a few marks. Benji was the sole individual on the planet who knew exactly how Rabastan felt about every single thing happening around them at this very second.
There was a knock on his front door and he looked up from the potion mixing, goggles placed precariously on his nose. It was a ministry official, he knew that. Which one, that he didn't know. "Just a minute." Adding the corrosive ingredient to the pot and stirring a few times until he was sure nothing would explode, Rabastan made his way to the front door and opened it up to a tall man with purple eyes. Joram's father.
"Sup dude! Ready to go get your shit from the Slytherin Common Room?" Vincent was chewing on a straw to a slushy looking drink that was yellow in color as he studied Rabastan. He remembered when the boy had tried to off himself in November, but failed miserably. "Mango smoothie, you want one?"
Rabastan couldn't help but crack a smile to Vincent Mortelle. The guy was not what you would expect from a ministry worker in the slightest, tight pants, band tee-shirt, messy hair, big sunglasses and a long drapery like coat that touched about mid thigh. This was the Mortelle everyone knew, and not one person hated. That was unless you didn't have a soul. "I'm good Vincent thank you, I've only one question as to why the Head of Vampire Affairs is standing on my front porch instead of an Auror or Law Enforcement member."
Vincent shifted his lips a bit and nodded. "Ah! Right right, Avona was going to come but she got held up in the offices for a meeting and couldn't make it. Would've had to postpone getting your things, didn't want that now did we? So she sent me to take you to the school, because I think she wanted me to get out of her hair or something." With a shrug Vin looked over Rabastan with a smile. "You look like shit, come on."
Green eyes moved down to the arm that was protruding from Vincent's side and took it. Both of them falling into the shadow of the house and out of sight and were soon in the dungeons of Hogwarts just outside the common room. "I'm never going to get used to you guys doing this to me. Apparation is fine and all, but Merlin you guys are so fluid."
"Comes with the territory. Parselmouth." Vincent spoke the password as the door to the Slytherin common room opened from the blank stone wall. "There you go, I'll be hanging out down here no funny business or I'll have to put you in the ground. Capisce?" Rabastan nodded and went to go pack his books, his trunk, his clothes and everything else he needed.
There was no doubt Rabastan was unsure of who or what he was going to run into. He needed to confront everyone, clear his name. Let them know he wasn't going anywhere.
