The Ravenclaw tower was like a home to her. Though she usually studied in her bedroom, today was a good day to get out and do some work in the common room. This was because no one was really around. Most of the students had already escaped to Hogsmeade, but on this day Eileen just wanted to relax in the dorm. However, the thing she was doing was far from relaxing for other students. But potion making always calmed her.
Holding a small tube of red boiling liquid over the burner, she counted in her head. The red liquid turned clear and began to fizz. Perfect. Carefully, she turned it upside down over the couldron, spilling the contents in the purple ooze.
Anyone who walked in the common room while Eileen was on one of her potion making mood knew not to touch anything. It wasn't that she would get mad, because she hardly ever got angry, but because more often than not, they would get injured by whatever it was she was making. A few months ago she actually managed to blow up the table because some idiot student who had no business being in Ravenclaw poked the liquid in the couldron with their wand... She was like a mad scientist, as the muggles would say. It wouldn't surprise Eileen to know that she may grow old by herself, surrounded by cats, constantly making potions and being known by the children in the neighborhood as the mental witch who toiled over her couldron all day.
Leaning over the couldron, she peered at the oozy purple thing bubbling inside. In just a matter of seconds, the consistency of the potion went from thick to silky. A big grin appeared on her face. Carefully, she squeezed a boom berry over the couldron and let the juice settle in. There! Now she had to do was keep stirring it every five minutes for an hour. Eileen leaned back on the couch and sighed with relief.
