Issac played with the eggs on his plate. It was early, most of the castle was still sleeping or not yet down to breakfast. It wasn't that Issac couldn't sleep it was the fact that for the life of him he couldn't remember doing so. As he pressed his hands to his head, he tried to think of the last thing he remembered. He got out of class and went to his dorm. It was uneventful as far as he could tell. He had done his charms homework, and then, nothing. People would say he dozed off, or maybe he was just stressed. But Issac could tell this wasn't normal. It scared him, people weren't supposed to lose chunks of time like that. the same thing had happened a few days ago and shortly after students said he had been seen in the halls. They said he had been seen making a first year cry. When he confronted the kid, all he got was a terrified shuffle. Issac was loosing, he was sure. Maybe something about being a wizard in a line of muggles had something to do with it, or maybe he was sick, ill with some magic disease. That had to be it, he would go see the nurse before classes.
As he thought he could feel his stomach tighten. voices told him students were filing into the great hall. Issac did a quick personal check. His robes were sitting well on him, his Hufflepuff yellow lay around his neck fighting back the chill. It would soon be summer and he wouldn't need scarf but for now he liked it. it seemed to hide him a little better. Contemplating taking another bite, Issac decided against it.
A glint of red fell over the plate in front of him. Ruby and silver, the ring on his finger felt like part of him now. He stared at it for a moment, seeing as an old friend and the first time all at once. It caught the light nicely before a shadow flickered over the face and his mind was instantly off the blood colored stone on his hand. The post had arrived. Had he been sitting here that long? He didn't remember the other students of his house filling in the benches around him. Slight panic forced his heart to speed up. Did he lose time again? Had he even moved? His senses came back, just daydreaming, of course he hadn't gotten up. Issac shook his head and grabbed a stray prophet from the table. He was still amazed by the moving pictures.
