February was a dreadful month. The winter months were ending and soon enough it would be warm outside. It wasn’t that Theo didn’t like warm weather, it was just that he preferred winter. The heat sometimes felt like it was suffocating him. It was just easier for him to breathe in the winter, and those months were slowly coming to a miserable close. He’d manage though, especially since he had the entirety of the common room to himself right now. It was quiet, just the way Theo liked it. The absence of noise and arguing and chatter was a pretty rare occurrence for the dungeons, but it happened when you skipped out on a transfiguration lesson or two (or seven). He knew the material well enough, the professor could get their panties in a wad if they wanted to but Theo wasn’t going to lose sleep about missing the class for the second time this week (and twice last week, and the week before). So long as he passed what did it matter? He’d pass, he knew the material, he just… preferred to practice on his own time.
He was sure he’d get in trouble for it eventually, but right now, right now he was getting ready to enjoy a nice, comfortable nap on the couch of the common room. It was dangerous because who knew what the other students might do to him if they found him sleeping in the middle of the common room, but the couch was comfortable, he was tired, and everyone else would be in lessons for at least another hour. He could give a rat’s ass about the potential consequences. The other thing about Theo was that, well, he wasn’t comfortable wearing shirts most of the time, so when he was in the comfort of his own dorm, and occasionally even the comfort of his own common room, he was shirtless. Did it bother other students? Almost definitely. Did he care? Nope! Clothes, much like summer heat, were suffocating. He merely saw being shirtless as equalizing his body temperature. Plus, if you looked like him, wouldn’t you walk around shirtless?
He closed his eyes as he sprawled across the couch in his school pants and no shows, a satisfied smile on his face as his hands rested behind his head to prop his head up. He could sleep in his bed, sure, but… effort. Effort he didn’t quite have. His shirt and books lie next to him on the floor, abandoned without second thought. He could feel himself slipping into a nice, peaceful sleep, and then it happened.
The common room door flew open and he lied still for a moment. Who the hell else was skipping class right now? He groaned irritably before opening his eye to see brown hair he’d become all too familiar with during his tenure here in Hogwarts. Daphne Winterson. He snorted slightly, a smirk already appearing on his face. “Of course it’s you, princess,” he said with a roll of his eyes, the last word leaving his mouth like venom. You see, Daphne Winterson acted like she owned the whole of Hogwarts, and if you didn’t bend to her will she would break you. Theo didn’t play games like that, and so he enjoyed knocking her down every peg he could. He rolled his eyes as he sat up on the couch. “Go away, Winterson,” he said dismissively with the wave of his hand. “Let a man enjoy his nap in peace.”
