History (I have decided to include this because his history had truly shaped who he is and who he will be)
Ezio's great grandfather, Ezio Drago Antonio D'orolione, moved his family to Great Britain from Italy shortly after his first son was born. Ezio Drago had a specific reason for uprooting his new family and moving so far away from everything they had known for centuries. All marriages up to, and including Drago's own, had been arranged around the age of five. However, when his first son was born, he knew there were no females that would be eligible for him when he became of marrying age. Drago's solution was to move to the nearest major world power that also had a well respected wizarding school. That nation just so happened to be England. They bought a large swath of land in Crieff, Perthshire in Scotland, and let the forest grow naturally on all four borders, with part of the manor nestled against the forest. They constructed a large manor, with a slightly Renaissance Italian feel. The D'orolione's have always owned that home, and now own the Falxman Terrace house in London, where they live during the school year so that coming home for Christmas is easier on their son.
Once they had settled, more children were born. All the children had private tutors until their Hogwarts letters arrived. All their children went to school, got married and had children of their own, the first born sons inheriting the house and a name from their father. Each generation has repeated this with varying numbers of children, Wizarding and World Wars barring the way.
Ezio's parents were introduced to each other while they were both still in school. Ceasare proposed to Aldora when he was in his seventh year. They married three years later, shortly after Aldora graduated. Their first child came two years after that. A lovely, healthy, baby boy, they named Tiberius Salvatore Jethro Auditore. He grew up a very privileged life, and yet, while his nurses may have spoiled him rotten, his parents and tutors were not so generous. They pushed him to do his best, and punished him when he was naughty. Between 1949 and 1959, Aldora suffered two miscarriages, and one stillbirth. So, in 1959, they were slightly, but pleasantly surprised when Vladeres was born. He grew up in much the same manner his brother had. They were, for all intents and purposes, a happy family. They showed each other love and respect. They comforted each other when things got rough, or they had a bad day.
That all changed one fateful summer day when Ezio was eight years old. But first, we need to go back a few years to the summer before Tiberius' sixth year at Hogwarts. At the party his parents held, for all the wealthy wizdarding families in England, that marked the return to school, Tiberius met a lovely pureblood girl only a year younger than himself. He told his parents that he would like to court her, and they happily gave him their blessing. He courted her through his sixth and seventh years, and just like his father, asked her to marry him after she graduated. She agreed, and her parents gave their blessing to the young couple. They where to get married shortly after she graduated the next year, but she kept pushing the date back. Three months after graduation; five months; six months after she had graduated. The day before the wedding, she finally told Tiberius that she couldn't marry him. She was leaving him for a muggle who had promised her a house of her own, without her in-laws living with them. She said she had fallen in love with him years before, but wasn't sure how to broach the subject with her pureblood parents. Tiberius was devastated, as he had fallen madly in love with the girl. He withdrew from family activities, becoming severely depressed, and would almost never come out of his room. One evening, in 2014, as the rest of the family was preparing to go out on their daily walk around the gardens, Ezio had gone up to his brother's room, hoping to persuade him to join them. As usual Tiberius declined the offer. Ezio, his mother, and his father went on their walk, enjoying the calming feeling of the gardens. Near a stream that ran through the property, Ezio found a peculiar stone, one that he had never seen before. One side seemed to be a shell, like that of a sea creature, while the other side was like a normal, bumpy rock. He was fascinated, and upon reaching the manor, bounded up the stairs to his brother's room to show him the fantastic rock. He flung open the double doors crying, "Ty, Ty. You will not believe what I have found. It is like..." His words died off as his eyes focused on the bed. There lay his brother's wand, snapped in half. A cold stillness shrouded his heart and he shivered. He took a tentative step into the room, and looked around his eyes falling lastly on the closet door. There, hanging just inside was the corpse of his brother, strung up by three of his Slytherin ties. His shrill scream brought his mother running. Aldora in turn collapsed to the floor shrieking for her lost son. Ezio barely heard her over his own weeping cries. His hearing also seemed to have gotten muffled, like someone had clasped their hands over his ears. He remembers someone dragging him out of the room, while two servants took his mother from the room. Nothing was the same after that. The house grew still, almost cold. His parents almost ceased to interact with him. No more family walks in the garden. Meal times were strained, and often taken in their own rooms.
His father had also become very abusive, both emotionally and physically towards Ezio, always telling him that he could never match up to his brother. Ezio has had many visits from the family physicians for falling down stairs, or falling off his horse; things that had never actually happened the way they were said to have happened. His father also harshly tried to train him in Occulmency, something that any reasonable person would know a ten year old would never be able to do. It was during one of these training sessions that he received the worst injury to date from his father. It had been going on for hours and Ezio was completely exhausted. His mother had been quietly rocking in a chair, looking out a window, not really there, or anywhere but had seemed to come to enough to suggest a break for dinner. Without waiting for his father to approve this statement, he jumped out of his chair. This, of course, incensed his father who backhanded him hard enough to launch the ten year old off his feet and send him flying into the corner of a table. With a split head Ezio had stumbled towards the stair in an attempt to get away from his father, but he wasn’t fast enough and found himself tumbling down the stairs. It was at this time that his mother actually stepped in and stopped his father. If she hadn’t, he may actually be dead. As it was, he was unconscious for three days. It is also how he got the scar behind his ear that follows his hair line. He never talks about it and doesn’t like it when people ask, it is also another reason he keeps his hair a bit long to hide it. Ezio does now know Occulmency. He learned it in his fourth and fifth year. He had done this partly to show his dad that he could do something right, but that kind of feeling had been growing fainter for some time; the feeling that he needed to break away from his father, however has been growing. The other reason he worked so hard to learn Occulmency in his fourth and fifth year was because he felt a need to hide his mind from his own father.
A small ray of light has pierced this descending cloud of doom however. This ray of sunshine came to them in the form of a baby. Not their own child, but Ceasare's sister's child. Her name is Amelia Marvina Bosch Auditore. It was an odd happening. Ceasare's sister had married David Bosch, and together they had little Amelia. Two years later after the child’s birth, the couple were on a date in London and got a bit lost, ending up in a bad section of town. Little known to them, they had entered a border neighborhood of two rival gangs, and before either could draw their wands to apparate, BANG! Shots rang out all around them, and they had been killed. Ceasare and Aldora had been named her godparents, and so became her legal guardians. Ezio immediately fell in love with the little girl, with big blue eyes and soft, curly brown hair. She was his sister, and gave them the first smiles they had had in years. She is just about the only thing in this world that makes Ezio truly happy. He knows she is the only reason that he has not turned out like his father since she is almost ignored by his parents and Ezio helped raise her as his heart told him to.
"Tell me son, do you like this mudblood?" Ezio's father asked, hi words dripping like frozen acid from a forked tongue. Ezio couldn't say anything; all he could do was stare down at the girl who lay whimpering at his feet and hoped his demented father wouldn't lose it completely and kill the poor thing.
He had kept her a secret, having to use Occlumency at times, only to be betrayed by someone else. Ezio had learned this valuable skill during the summer and breaks of his fourth and fifth year. He began in a hope to please his father, but then to guard against the man. His great grandfather and namesake Ezio Drago agreed to teach the boy the skill, mostly out of pity. This wasn't the first time he had been trained in the art, except the last time had almost ended in his death. Even after learning how to clear his mind with Occlumency, Ezio wanted more, he needed to go further, he needed to be able to change his own memories, to become a master. He was glad now that he had pushed his disnonno to train him.
He turned from his father to look at the girl, letting his eyes go soft for a split moment before pushing all emotion from his mind and face. He had to protect her, even if she wouldn't understand. He may be his father's son, but he didn't have to his father.
"No. I am a D'orolione. We don't associate with her kind," he said coldly, looking right at her to sell the lie. He hoped she would know it was a lie, but it would still probably hurt like hell to hear him say it. His father had already tried to read his mind on the subject earlier, this was just for the girl's benefit.
