The forbidden forest was, strictly, well forbidden. But that had never stopped Katherine before. Sure she wasn't really one to break the rules, but she was bored and the castle walls were far too confining. The lake was dreary, and far too cold to be enjoyable, Quidditch....not so much Katherine's cup of tea, so the forest it was. She tossed on a hoodie and some boots, and went off adventuring. It always seemed that when one was doing something they shouldn't, everyone had to ask what you were up to. After avoiding as many conversations as she could, she made it to the grounds.
Katherine breathed in deeply, glad to be outside the stone walls. She wasn't claustrophobic by any means, but spending day I and day out in a dungeon common room got to a person. She loved the outside, the fresh air, the flora and fauna. Just about anything to do with the outdoors, and she was happy to do it.
As of right then, Katherine only had one thing on her mind, the forest, more specifically a tree. She wanted to find a tall tree, massively tall and very branchy. The sole intent of climbing it of course. After that she thought about looking for some winter blooming witch hazel, or some hellebore. Something she could take back to her room and replant. Since there hadn't been snow for a few days, the ground should have been clear enough to find some.
Once she was finally in the forest, she spent quite a bit of time squinting upwards. Many of the trees were scraggly and wimpy looking. Nothing too good for climbing.
"If I were a nice, big tree, where would I be...well that's a silly question, I'd be here ...obviously.." She muttered to herself shaking her head. Just as she was about to give up and settle for collecting winter blooms, she saw a rather beefy looking tree and promptly ran up the trunk to catch the nearest low hanging branch. Gripping tightly, she climbed her legs up, and worked her way to the next one. And the next, and the next.
Eventually she was a quarter of the way up the tree, and quite pleased with herself. She got one last foothold and sat herself on a thicker branch, surveying her immediate area. She noticed a noise, a person by the sounds of it. She began to climb down a bit, trying to see if she could catch a glimpse of whoever was there.
"Hey! You there! Don't you know it's called the Forbidden Forest for a reason?" She called out, seeing that it was a student and not a teacher. A smile played on her face as she climbed back down the sit on the lowest branch. "It's called that because...it's forbidden." She smiled at her rather cheesy joke and looked at the boy, hopping off the branch and walking towards him.
"Since we're going to be breaking rules together, I ought to know your name. Mines Katherine, but everyone calls me Kitty." She offered her hand.
