If you were to see Lily Evans now, with a book bag thrown over her shoulder although the day's classes were done, it wouldn't take much thought to deduce that she was on her way to the library. It wasn't that she had hours upon hours of homework to catch up on, she just liked the library. The quiet, the view out of those big windows, the smell of books, a bookworm like her couldn't help but love the library. Since she only had one little essay to finish, she was planning on finishing it quickly and then looking for a book she hadn't read yet. Remus always said he loved Jane Austen, and Lily had read most of her books, she was hoping to find one in the muggle section that she had not.
The castle, on the other hand, was buzzing with excitement, and most definitely not about a book. The Masked Ball or whatever people had decided to dub it, was creeping closer. As she walked, she saw girls talking with each other about who they'd like to go with and who had already asked them whilst the boys were trying to find the courage to ask the girl they wanted to go with. Lily didn't see the point in it. Not really. Surely, if she had a fun date to go with, sure, but another invitation from an arrogant boy was not her cup of tea. Not like rather staying in her dorm with an actual cup and tea and a book was, for example. Or just keeping company whoever else didn't go. But for some reason, it was expected of pretty Prefect Evans to attend the party. And if she had any hopes of becoming Head Girl next year, she probably should go. Lily tried not to outwardly groan. Potter was completely out of the question and as much as she wanted to talk to Sev again, she couldn't find him anywhere. Hopefully he wasn't hiding from her.
All of these thoughts had made their way through her mind in the progress of walking down one of Hogwarts' long corridors. The sun shone in and she smiled softly as she passed through one beam, ginger hair turning a bright orange in the light. Book bag, Gryffindor robes and bright red hair, anybody would recognize her. For someone who didn't particularly revel in the limelight, she seemed to find herself in it quite often. But as for now, she was planning on reading her book in solitude somewhere secluded in the big library. Life, though, does not necessarily go as planned.
