Juliet had forgone the feast, and decided to stay in the common room. She wasn't quite sure as to why, but she had felt solitude was more her style for the evening. Slowly the common room cleared out, and she waved some goodbyes, and explained she wasn't really hungry to those who had asked. Eventually, she was alone. Taking advantage of the lack of housemates, and the pleasantly roaring fire, she dashed to her room and dug through her books. She conflicted for a genre. Jules Verne was always a good read, but she was also considering some Jane Austen for some reason. Journey to the center of the Earth in one hand, Pride and Prejudice in the other, she shrugged and tucked bot under her arm, and grabbed a blanket. Given the usual time frame that the Gryffindors spent at the feast, she had a good hour or two, three if she were really lucky. With her blanket and books in hand she headed back to the common room.
Setting her books on a nearby chair, she laid the blanket out (after a bit of fighting with it), just in front of the fire, and grabbed blindly for a book. Austen it was. She cracked it open, initially lying on her back, but switching to lay on her stomach once she had gotten into the book and nearly dropped it on herself. Naturally she looked a bit ridiculous, sprawled out on the floor of the common room, but no one was there to poke fun, so she paid no mind to how silly she may have looked. She did however keep track of the time, just in case she had to make a quick run back to her room to put everything away.
Page after page she flipped through, occasionally kicking her legs back and forth, or fidgeting to find a comfortable position. At some point she had found a throw pillow, which was promptly cast aside after realizing it was the most uncomfortable thing in creation. After some time she had reached the point where the ball was being held and some rather humorous remarks were exchanged. Mr. Darcy and Lizzie had always brought on a case of the giggles. She shook her head, laughing quietly as she read on.
She paused for a moment, certain she heard something coming from the staircase to the dormitories, but shrugged it off as one of her housemates cats walking around and continued reading.
