Jesus it was cold out this afternoon. Rodolphus pulled his jacket around him a little better as he walked quickly across the snow covered lawn trying to take a short cut, but realizing it was hardly the shortest rout now that he was tramping through. He cursed at himself inwardly and plowed on. Today had been nothing special of a day really, though he had found himself in deep thought for a while. Staring at the back of her head in class was a nightmare. Bellatrix Black was his impending future and as the months ticked by he could hear the callous shackles of marriage clanking together, nipping at his ankles. Before he might have feared them and quickened his step. Now he welcomed them and expected their cold grasp at any moment.
And then the thought of Joram came creeping back in. It complicated things to say the least and that put a heavy burden on his shoulders. Rod was coming to the knowledge that taking your heart out of a marriage made it so much more simple. He just wished that his lifetime of loyalty and respect, of nuptials and the prospect of love, could all be shared with someone he cared for. Not that he didn't care for Bells. He did. She had so much potential and passion over what they were working towards, and he admired that. And the arrangement was a smart move politically. A tiny part of him, the part that was all caught up in the whirlwind of a new relationship, wished it could be Joram that he committed to. And then that though scared the shit out of him, and Rod shook it off like he did the snow from his shoe and looked up to find none other, than his betrothed.
Was it just him or did she look a little pretty today? Blinking, Rod took a deep breath and focused his thoughts a bit better. He had to sort things out with her. Make sure she was alright with this betrothal still. Having not had much of a chance to talk to her since before Italy even, Rod wasn't one hundred percent on how she felt about it, and he was not going to do anything that she didn't want. Contrary to his previous actions, Rod was not a colossal douche bag.
He took a few long strides toward her coming his way and avoided her eyes. With a smooth action his hand slipped around her waist as they passed each other and he quickly swept her to the side into a little alcove out of site. A smile played across his face as he looked down at her still holding her rather close, and his breath made warm little clouds in the air between them. "Bells...I think we need to talk." The smile was fading a little but the look in his eyes spoke volumes. He was serious about his words and would be perfectly genuine with her if she permitted it.
