( PERSONALITY ) :
June likes to hold herself to higher standards than most people, or at least, that's what she believes that she's doing. She's constantly worried about her appearance and actions and strives to make them consistently prim and proper in nature. Always on time and never late seems to be one of her mottos - June believes in the importance of making a good first impression and one of the first ways to do so is to arrive promptly at the right time whether it be for a meeting or for class. She has been known to show much more respect for those students who share similar values to her. Quite intelligent, June often has a hard time connecting with those around her, although, her strange antics will earn her laughs from her students...

Negatively, June is extremely easily intimidated. Stemming from long-term past problems with her parents and family, she was seen as the black sheep of the family and often puts herself down internally. If someone says something critical to her, she will take it personally and most likely beat herself up about it until she finds a solution. If students want something from her, they're more likely than not to get it. Office hours are the perfect time to push for better grades and examination scores, as June has earned a reputation for being a push-over in her life.

( HISTORY ) : 
The first child of Harrison and Margret Winstead, June Amelia has always been the black sheep of the family. She didn't speak much when she was younger, and when she did, it was with a delicate stutter, one that her parents couldn't quite seem to figure out. She would have been quite articulate and seemingly intelligent, if it wasn't for this...extreme snafu - as her parents called it. June began seeing a speech therapist when she was only five years old - an old, grimy woman whose clothing looked as if she had grabbed it out of an Sears magazine from decades before. Mrs. Marshall was blunt and very demanding with June, often causing her to hole-up more than come out of her shell. 

When June turned seven, her parents had another child - Thatcher - who seemed to be more up their alley. He was loud, proud, and obnoxious, just like Harry and Margo. This made June feel like even more of a social outcast amongst her family and she buried herself in young-adult novels from the time that she could make out most words. Her stutter became worse as she drew away from her parents and family and into the world of muggle culture and the escape that it brought for her.

Finally, when eleven rolled around, June received her Hogwarts letter. A chance to break away from the strangulation of her family, June jumped at the opportunity. She was sorted into Hufflepuff and - despite the fact that she tried to shake her old habits of unsociability and strained speech patterns - she flourished little more than a flower in the middle of winter. Dumbledore - the then professor of Transfiguration - did take notice of her, seeing the passion that she reflected toward her half-muggle heritance. 

Upon graduating from Hogwarts with exceptional marks (and very few close friendships to show for it), June was unsure of what to do with her life. She was eighteen and - although she had been forced to choose a profession to focus on - had no real intentions of pursuing her chosen path of healing. For a few years, she interned at St. Mungo's, providing assistance wherever necessary and when she could.

It wasn't until the beginning of January that something happened to change her life. Dumbledore - her previous Transfiguration Professor - approached her and asked her to fill in the empty Muggle Studies position at Hogwarts. Apparently the previous teacher had fallen ill and the term was beginning again soon, leaving them high and dry without a professor. June felt slightly under-qualified for the job, but accepted without another thought about it, feeling obligated to Dumbledore and the confidence that he once inspired in her.
