How was is so ungodly hot in the middle of December? Caitlin would never understand Italy. It should have been snowy! It was snowy back in Scotland. So why did it feel like spring here? It may have been an entirely foreign concept to her, but she was glad for one thing. No more popsicle boyfriend. That poor Yank seemed like he'd practically freeze to death every time they had to go outside. Sure he tried not to complain about it, but Caitlin knew the Arizona native was better suited for the sun than snow. And as much as she was okay with the extreme winter conditions, Caitlin Gallagher much preferred the rain. Right in the middle of cold and hot was perfect. Sun was nice, but she'd take a cloudy, dismal sky any day. Luckily, Italy wasn't too warm and she was adapting to it quickly. Not to mention Professor Mortelle was trying to swing a way for some visits home for her and Eddie.
Some kids were ecstatic about being here for the holidays. Caitlin had mixed feelings. Not only was this her first Christmas away from home, she was spending it in the house of her now ex-best friend. Although, Benji and Addie were here and that would make it a little easier. Since she'd been secretly bunking in Ravenclaw the quartet had become rather close and she was actually having a really good time getting to know them. The obsession the boys had with frogs was odd and their croaking got annoying some nights, but she got over it. She did miss her own dorm though. Her warm quilt, the posters, the way the sun hit the grass out the window before dancing around the common room. And as mad as she was at him, Caitlin missed Joram. Eddie was awesome to cuddle, but it would never be the same as cuddling her Whoram. Things had to change eventually, and Cait had a feeling that it'd be up to her.
For now though, her thoughts were with Leroy. The creature was beautiful. Caitlin had grown up around animals her entire life, but not once had she seen a rhino so close. Why the Mortelles had a rhino was beyond her. Why she was called Leroy was even farther, but she wouldn't question. Cait herself once had a sheep called Louise until they realized it was a boy and they called her Louis instead. But not once had she ever dreamed of owning a rhino. For one thing, she had no idea what rhinoceroses ate. For another, her mother would kill her. Every time Caitlin showed up at the house with a mangy looking kitten in her arms or a grounded pigeon, Kiernan Gallagher would sigh and tell her daughter to leave it outside. Naturally Caitlin would coo and then tear and make up some really horrific story as to how the poor animal came to be in her care, and Mrs. Gallagher would further have no choice but to allow the flea ridden mongrel to stay. Caitlin supposed however, that rhinos didn't get fleas, nor did Leroy need rescuing. Kiernan Gallagher was safe. For now.
"C'mon then... Do somethin'." Cait leaned over the fence her arms stretched out in an attempt to touch the animal as she stood on the wooden beam. "Grunt. Charge. Do somethin'...I'll give you...An apple? Wha' do ya e'en eat?" Her curious look continued as she stared at the ever so calm beast laying in the shade of the shelter it had. Finally bored, Caitlin hopped down from the fence. "Fine then. I'll go find somthin' else ta keep me entertained. But ya better believe I'mma ask Professor Mortelle wha' ya eat... and I'll be back ta feed ya or somthin'." With a laugh, Caitlin turned away and started back up the walk way before almost running face first into someone. "Whoa!! Oh... It's you. Hellllloooooo There Sexy face." The classic laugh that came from the girl was infectious as her eyes squinted up at the moppy headed boy before her. Right.. That's why she'd come down here in the first place. Looking for him. This was a very big estate and the girl was itching to explore ever inch of it. Who better to do that with than her favorite expedition partner of all time. Eddie Muler.
