Juliet was coming apart at the seams. It was already Christmas time, and she had been holding in the grief of her brother and mothers death since it happened. They always say 'Don't bottle up your feelings or they'll eat you up'...It never rang more true than tonight. She had been able to keep composure for the past few months, smiling and brushing away the sadness. But now it was eating away at her. The snow was falling down in a blanket of white, the school had already started decorating for the holidays and all it was doing was making her think of her family.
Christmas had been her favorite time of the year. Her father dressed as Santa Claus every year, and read stories each night all December long. When Juliet had started Hogwarts, he had gone so far as to owl her what he had read to her brother that night. Her mother adored Christmas. Each year their house was extravagantly decorated and full of homey life. And Timothy was the heart of it all. He was always so full of wonder and excitement, and dragging Juliet to go sleigh riding as often as he could once snow had fallen. Now since they were gone... all it did was break her heart.
She had been in the common room for awhile, talking with her fellow Housemates and listening to their plans for the holidays. Naturally, many of them would be going home, and the rest seemed to be going with the Mortelle boy to Italy. Juliet had chosen to stay at Hogwarts, as her father and uncle were still travelling. Hearing a few people go on about traditions and what they had to look forward to, had gotten to her. Gracefully she excused herself and searched for solitude. Somewhere to get away from everything, everyone. The owlery was the perfect place.
Bundled in a blanket her mother had made, she stood at the opening to the sky in the owlery, gazing out. And then from nowhere, the tears started to fall. She hadn't cried since her mother and brother were killed. She hadn't grieved. She had soldiered on and stayed strong for her sake as well as her fathers. But he was travelling, and she was going to be alone. the reality of that hit her with galeforce.
She leaned on one hand, and wiped the continuing stream of tears with the other. Everything around her faded into the background, and she finally let everything out.
