Her brown eyes scanned the letter she had received from her daughter. Avona glanced at Rod and took in a deep breath. "How much longer do you think this is going to take? I don't want to make any movements while we're so close, but at the same time if things are getting hairy back home I don't want our children to be caught in the middle of it." Roderick propped the cigarette between his lips as he lounged on the deck of their hotel room. Watching as he exhaled the air into the twilight sky of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It was dangerous work to be an Auror, but they were so close she could feel it in her bones.
"I would say two days, my love." Roderick's voice was deep as it pierced the empty sky. The air was cold, but after today they needed the cold. There was a lot of sliding around and keeping their presence under covers. So much more information was needed, but with what they got today perhaps they could work a little faster. "If Adeline has an issue, I'm sure she knows how to handle it. She's got your blood in her as well. Just give it a couple of days and we'll capture him and bring him in for questioning. You know how long trials take, so that will give you time to head to the school and see what is up. This case is pretty straightforward to begin with. I'm positive I can handle the paperwork." Rod stood from his spot on the balcony and the light from the stars shown on his skin. It was riddled with scars from previous incidents, mostly from werewolves.
Fixing her hair into a messy bun at the base of her neck. Ava decided it was time to figure out exactly what it was her daughter had wanted. Slipping her feet into royal blue pumps, she let the skirt of her extremely tight dress hug her hips and her thighs. The black color was offset with a blue sweater and a bright medallion necklace that Roderick had purchased when they first got married. It was amazing to see such a small woman carrying two children at one time, but Avona had managed and still carriers herself fit and well.
"I'll keep in touch. Briar, make sure he gets some sleep, you know how hard he works, and this case will be a lot more difficult than we thought. Rod, honey, if you need anything just shoot me an owl." Kissing him briskly upon the lips he held her tight before she smiled up at him. This year, she had won the stick pull. Last year Roderick had managed to act as surveillance for Hogwarts and Ava was jealous that he got to spend time with their two children and she was left in the deserts of Egypt. With a small pop she was gone.
Appearing at the gates to the school she pressed her hand through the barrier followed by her entire body. There was snow on the ground but it hadn't phased her in the slightest. Her shoes clicked on the solid stone path toward the large oak doors. Even though the grounds were covered in mounds of snow, the path was seemingly clear aside from a very light dusting of white. She had already received a letter stating that she was welcomed onto campus from the headmaster, but she would be staying in Vincent's office. Grumbling a little she hated the idea of sleeping with her cousin, but she has done worse.
With a wave of her wand the heavy doors pushed open and the very short woman stepped into the entrance hall. Students were bustling about so she stayed back, slinking into the shadows to appear unnoticed. Soon the chaos was slowly diminishing, with one foot she stepped out into the light and let herself be known. Looking down at her watch, she counted silently in her head. Registering everything that was going on around her in just a few short moments.
