Ezra was still pressed against a wall in the corridors. The sounds of the Sex Ed class had faded as she heard the door close. She had always been one to take embarrassment fairly well, and soldier on. But this was a whole new level, this was no longer embarrassment, but shame. Pure shame.
She knew going into whatever it was that she and Alex were, that there would be consequences, and that there was the possibility of being found out, which would have been a horrid experience in itself. But instead of just a passing student, or teacher finding them, it had been her friends. Friends she loved dearly, and they had seen her in that legendarily compromising position. They had cheered, they had looked away, and they had stared in shock. But the thing that had hurt the most, was Jorrie.
Ezra had never felt more vulnerable in her life than she did when that door opened. When she saw the looks on Eddies, Benjis, all of their faces. Cait cheering them on hurt as well, but Jor was the one who poured the salt in the wound. When he pushed Alex into her and gave the detailed 'lecture' to him, it had made her feel dirty and wretched. She felt like an exhibit for all to see and jest at, to look on and laugh. Sure, she had pretty much set herself up for some hits on her reputation, she was even prepared for name calling and slander. But not for all of that.
So there she was. Crying in the corridor, wishing very much that she was anywhere but in Hogwarts. Her makeup smudged and lined down her cheeks with each tear fall, her eyes reddened, and her hands trembling each time she went to wipe them. She felt very much deserved of those tears, not that many knew why. That incident had been the closest to anything remotely sexual she had ever done, and it had become a sideshow.
She sniffled and brought her knees to her chest, hugging them close to her. She thought of the consequences it would have if her family heard wind of it. What her parents would think, what her brother would think. With those thought, her head buried in her knees, and more tears came trailing. No one was going to believe the bullshit story Alex had spun up on the spot. And there was no way that it all wouldn't become the latest gossip.
Feeling very much alone, and outcasted, she stiffened at the sound of quick footsteps coming down the hall, and kept her face buried, hoping whoever it was would just move on.
