DISCLAIMER: Vel and I wrote these on paper while in Reno. Yes they are short, yes they are all together. From now on the posts in this thread will meet the word count as well as will they be posted from the appropriate accounts. We apologize that it might upset you. Sorry, not sorry.<3
There was an exasperated sigh as the girl flopped down into a couch in the common room. There was a small potted plant in her hand and her clothes were covered in dirt patches. She'd spent the afternoon in the green houses. Partially because she had homework, but she also had a lot to think about . Her hair was a mess and the girl almost looked like she could fall asleep. Even her eyelids drooped half way.
"I 'ave a... boyfriend." Eddie was the sweetest ever and she liked him a lot, but now they had to adjust to being together. Caitlin hadn't ever had a lasting relationship. Not an exclusive one. They'd all been mostly lust based and open. With Eddie, Caitlin felt much different. She found herself now, half asleep looking at the plant as her feet clicked together.
"Plant. Planty. Plant...Plant. Please... grow. Be alive.. an' stuff." It was a little rescue plant that she re-potted and was attempting to make it a healthy, sprouting, leaf bearing plant. Good as new. She was pretty good at this sort of thing, so it should have been too hard. It was just a waiting game now. Wait, water, and sunlight. That's what Arnold the plant needed.

Making his way back to the Hufflepuff common room, from none other than the Slytherin dungeons. Some of his eyeliner was smeared due to laughter in the common room that involved a few very 'humerus' jokes from Evan. He, Integra, Rabastan, Chloe, Rod and Evan all sat around the fire and just hanging out. Needless to say it felt good to be back and a part of the circle he sold to. Even if his cousin was involved, Slipping through the entry way Joram caught the last few words Cait spoke and he rose an eyebrow. "Hey Cait, you look beat, everything okay?"
Flopping down next to the girl, Joram looked at the very sad plant. "He'll grow. Knowing that he is in your capable hands there is no doubt in my mind that he'll grow big and strong." Smiling, Joram reached over Caitlin's shoulder and looked down at her. "You know, isn't there a spell for sunlight?" Kicking his feet up on the coffee table, "Eh, don't answer that, I'm sure you would know already. So other than the plant, how has the life of CMG been going?"
---------
"There is." Her eyes fluttered open as he spoke. "He jest need ta be in sleepy mode now." A smile graced her lips and she tried not to fall asleep. His face was all different now and Cait was still getting used to it. There was certainly a big difference now. With a sigh, Cait placed the plant on the table and sat up a little.
"He's fine. Adjustin' ta life as a da'. But Aislinn is brills as a mother so I think they'll be fi-.... Ya meant me." Her head went back as she laughed. How dumb. Cait thought he'd been talking about Cillian. They had the same initials so in her tired mind it made perfect sense. "Oh man.... tha' was really dumb."
Looking at him she kicked off her shoes and propped her feet on his lap. "I'm okay. Been thinkin' lots today. Been one 'ell of a week. What are ya up to? Takin' tha' pretty new face out fer more test drives?"
-----------------
It was apparent that Cait was beyond tired and Joram let his hands work wonders on her small and petite feet. "Yeah I was talking about you." She was adorable when her eyelids fluttered closed ever so slightly. When talk turned to his face Joram looked down at her short legs. "I suppose you could say that I just feel everyone is looking at me nor they don't recognize who I am. It's odd, and a lot of our clients didn't even recognize me."
Still rubbing her feet lightly as he got lost in his own thoughts. Sitting around in the SCR was almost relaxing and he wished that he had his own bed with the sixth years. No one suspected a Hufflepuff to deal out of his trunk, maybe that was for the better. "Enough about me! What have you been up to? Other than trying to grow a plant." Laughing quietly he stopped. "IT seems as though you and I haven't talked for a while. I miss that, Cait. I miss us."
----------------
"I miss us too. But I'm kind of afraid your new face means a new Jorrie. And... I really liked the old Jorrie. My Whoram. I don't want you to go away and be a Slytherin. I know you love them and they are your friends too, but I don't want another best friend. I just want you because no one else knows me exactly the way you do. Or treats me like you." The normally peppy and chipper Irish girl was almost in tears.
"But everything is changing! I have a boyfriend but I can't figure out how to be a girlfriend. I really like Eddie and I love being with him but I don't know if I make him happy as more than friends because he's sooo nice to everyone!! I don't know if I do it for him and I haven't told you because you're finally not moping around like a lost schnauzer, but I don't know that I like the idea that Lestrange is the one with your leash now. Everything is so different! Your face. I'm in an actual relationship I think. The Slytherins love you again, my brother is a dad. The house elves changed the mince meat recipe! I just can't handle this all at once." Caitlin wiped the tears away with the back of her hand and then sighed, crossing her arms over her face.
-------------
There was so much emotion pouring from Caitlin, Joram just let her go as he always did. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down!" Sitting up a little better he pulled Cait to him and wrapped his arms around her. "Cait its okay." Laughing as the girl before him was a heaping mess. Joram only could shake his head.
"Listen. No one has ever had me on a leash and I don't think anyone will. Also I prefer the Italian Greyhound." Running his fingers through her hair he tried his damnedest to calm her down. "I'm glad that you and Eddie are getting on so well, he's a nice kid." A smile spread across his lips and he started to braid her locks. "If it bothers you so much, just tell him that this confuses you." Shrugging lightly, he tied the braid off with a small piece of string from the couch and looked her over. "As for the Slytherins, they're not that bad, but you'll never not be my bestie. I know you inside out."
--------------
With a sniff, Cait straightened and let him play with her hair. He was right and she knew she was just over whelmed. "I just don't want them to steal you. And... I don't think Eddie really knows about it. I don't think he'd understand not knowing how to be a girlfriend." Cait sighed and looked at him. Without word, she took his hand and dragged him to the 6th year boys dorm. "Come paint my toes." The girl snuggled into his bed and stared at the ceiling. "What if we are exclusive and serious and stuff. But.... If we are, what am I supposed to do?? I've never been a committed Girlfriend before. I don't want to mess stuff up, but I don't want tp be one of those clingy sappy girls." She pulled a face and handed him a bottle of red polish that she's left in his nightstand.
------------------
Joram shrugged and lifted his hands before Cait grabbed and pulled him toward the dorm room. "All I can say is to be honest with him, Cait." Jorrie started shaking the bottle of red polish. "Just be honest, really I wasn't honest and I felt like shit. Now that I've talked about it I feel a lot better." Unscrewing the top, Joram started laying on the lacquer. His hands were very gentle and soft. Surprisingly, his fingernails were all cut even and they even had a manicured look to them.
"The thing is Cait, how is he supposed to know you're upset about it if you don't tell him?" Joram was taking the lesson he learned from Rod just a few days ago and applying it to the here and now. Lucky enough, it fit.
-------------
Cait shrugged and played with the end of her braid. "Yeah I know. I'm normally so good 'bout talkin' and bein' so straight up. But I don't want to chase him off before I know what we are." She made a little bit of a frustrated noise and shook her head.
"Enough about me. What is it you've been up to?" Caitlin honestly had a hunch but that was just it, a hunch. She needed a little more information. Who was it? Was it just friendship, or a little more than that? The girl watched her best friend's new face, focusing on the brush strokes. "Who is it?"
----------
Making her switch her feet and keep her toes up, Joram nodded a little as he began to polish her other foot. Caitlin asked who he had been seeing lately. He didn't want to tell anyone, but Cait wasn't just anyone. "Rodolphus Lestrange." Speaking quietly he looked down and finished off her left foot. "He was avoiding me and then when I slept with Alex, that sort of lit everything on fire I guess. We talked about it a little bit and now it seems everything is back to normal with both of us."
Capping the bottle, Joram crawled back up onto his bed with Caitlin, "You are right though, it's confusing. I told him that I loved him. and he just... kissed me. and didn't say anything. I should be upset about that, but I'm not. He was so...Passionate about touching me and just being with me. I don't know , Cait. I think he wants me exclusively and as much as I want to please him, I just can't stop."
-------
Cait watched her friend as his mind raced over all the things he felt about Rod. His eyes glazed over just a little. She knew the look well and had probably worn it once or twice. It was that punch drunk love sort of look. He wore it well though. There were some people who just looked like a joke with that gooey look washing over them like a buttermilk bath. Joram didn't have the stupid grin going on, that was good. But she was not shocked in the slightest to hear Rod's name. Even she had almost fallen victim of the Rod spell in her earlier days. Luckily she was able to deflect him at the time and had since then remained Rod free.
But, if he made Joram happy, and he obviously did, then that was alright by Cait. Really that was all she wanted for he best friend. Happiness. She'd found it so why not him? Maybe in a perfect world they could double date or something. "Why don't you just talk to him?" There was a still half sleepy grin on the girl's face as she turned his own advice back on him. "How's he ever going to know if you don't tell him?" So maybe that was cheating, but it worked the other way around as well.
"Look, Jor, I wanted something, and I took a chance on it when the chance came around. Eddie took a chance on me. Look what we have. As little and buddin' as it is, we have the beginning of something that could be really cool. At the end of the day, we make each other happy. And that's what matters the most. So Why don't you take the risk? Talk to him? Ask him how he feels." She tried to give him a soft smile before taking the edge of her sleeve and wiping it along his bottom lids to get rid of some of his smeared eyeliner.
