Edwin Muler had been pouring over his paper on the myths of the Karkadan, too busy to notice his favourite teacher approaching him. Turned out that Mr. Mortelle hadn't been joking when Eddie had first met him- he really was a professor at the school, and quite easily the coolest teacher. Eddie was biased though. if he could only learn one thing for the rest of his life, it would be the study of magical creatures. That the rockstar-like man had been in charge of the class only made it ten times better. He brought an energy to the class that could make even independent study a game! it had been awkward as of late, what with him fighting with the teacher's son, but whether the man had heard the news or not, he hadn't made mention of it, and hadn't treated him any differently. He was glad for that. He would have hated for this class to be tense.
Today, the weather was horrible. It had been a mixture of sleet and snow all morning, and because Professor Mortelle hadn't wanted anyone catching pneumonia, he had moved Care of Magical Creatures inside- thank god! The weather was getting too cold for Eddie's liking, and working out in the field was starting to become a task most days. So having the day to relax inside was refreshing. Strike that. It was spirit warming, and far from brisk and refreshing. Dressed neatly in his school uniform, today was just a quiet, normal day, till the teacher had passed Eddie the little letter.
It was a curious thing, and Professor Mortelle really hadn't said much about the whole situation, he had just nodded. Suspicious, and crazy exciting! Eddie had immediately opened up the folded, cream parchment to read it's contents. There wasn't much to learn form the page. All it had said was "please arrive promptly after classes, rm 205". That was it. Eddie turned around abruptly, trying to get a look at the Professor. Was this a note from him? If not, then who? What was this supposed to be about? Suddenly, he couldn't concentrate on his studies. His mind raced with ideas and thoughts, and all he could do for the rest of class was watch the clock tick and seconds pass. Eventually, it was one o'clock, and Mr. Mortelle let them go. Before he had finished talking, Eddie was on his feet, grabbing his things and racing out the door.
Room Two-o-Five, eh? It wasn't too hard to find. He had past the classroom before, many times on his way to Transfiguration. he often wondered what was behind some of the unmarked classroom doors. Guess he was about to find out. What was this all about, anyways? His mind screamed 'adventure!' but part of him realistically pulled up his past mis-doings and wondered if he had finally been caught for any of them. It's not that Eddie purposefully tried to break rules, but looking at his list, it might seem that way to some people. Stealing wands, multiple accounts of entering the forbidden forest, fighting, (though he was mostly the victim there), under age drinking, running in the halls, misconduct with students, late assignments... And what if they found out about his newest one? Female students staying the night in the male dorms? He groaned with worry, and tried to push those out of his mind. It had to be good news! It was all secretive and shit- it was obviously and adventure!
Eddie stood before the heavy classroom door and put his fingers on the brass door knob. With a shove, the old thing swung easily on it's hinges and opened inwards. "Hellu?" Eddie asked, poking his head in.
