Eddie Muler stood on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest and surveyed the area covered in a fresh, light snow. Today, he had announced to Benji this morning, was now or never! A few more days of days of snow like this and all the frogs would go into hibernation and they wouldn't be able to catch the little man a frog till next year! The had risen early, and built the frog a terrarium out of a few transfigured text books no one would miss. Eddie had left the boy after this, having to drug up and get his outfit picked out for their epic adventure. Now, charmed to the tooth in protective anti mud spells (he had learned the importance of these from past trips into the wood) Eddie was ready for anything!

He was dressed rather warmly for this little of snow, but having been born in Arizona, he was a wimp when it came to the cold. His grey pea-coat was buttoned up tight, his school scarf was wrapped around his neck a few times and hung down his back, and his trilby hat sat atop his tight mess of curls. The only part of him that wasn't covered besides his face where his hands, which he continued to blow into to keep them warm. He was going to need his grabbers to catch the slippery little devils in the marsh, so he had figured that gloves would just hinder him. His wand was tucked behind his left ear for quick access, though he was sure he wasn't going to need it today. Besides that, he had brought nothing with him. He didn't want to be burdened with a bag- things were going to be hard enough without it.

"Come on Ben..." Eddie shivered, hopping about on the balls of his feet to stay warm,cigarette hanging shamefully from his lips, "Get out here already!" He was anxious to get started and get his blood flowing. He was excited to spend time with his friend today. He hadn't had a lot of time outside of class to hang with him as of late and they had some catching up to do. They had a lot to talk about.

Moving to catch a spot of sunlight and billow out a puff of smoke, Eddie thought he could just make out the shape of two people bounding down the hills towards the forest and Eddie gave out a yell of excitment and waved to the two. One was Definitely Benji. The other a girl with long blond hair. It took him a moment to realize that the girl must have been Ezra Winchester! A great girl, with a contagious energy and a great batting swing! "Excellent!" the boy cupped his hands to his face and yelled out to them. The more the merrier, as far as Eddie was concerned, and he hadn't seen Ezzie since the party, so hanging out with the two Ravers really was killing two birds with one stone.

"Hurry up! These frogs wont catch themselves!" He laughed, putting his cigarette back in between his lips for another puff, "Hustle!"

Benji rounded the corner out of the castle, glancing behind him to ensure that Ezra was still following him. He could see Eddie standing at the edge of the forest. Benji broke into a run, trying to be careful not to slip on the snow dusted hill he was heading down. He only lost his balance a couple of times and managed not to fall. Closer to the bottom of the hill, his foot hit a snow patch and he slid down the last meter of the hill on one foot, with the other straight out in front of him like he was trying to kick a football. "Tada!" he announced as he reached the bottom, proud of himself for not losing his balance and landing on his face as usual.

It was starting to get cold and Benji was hopeful that there would still be frog available for capture. He was dressed in a heavy sweater and a dark green wind breaker. He liked the colour green, but only ever wore a shade that was darker than the Slytherin's shade . He had a warm pair of jeans covering his legs and his favourite running shoes. Like Eddie, he had cast all sorts of repellent spells, the last thing he needed was to get cold and wet and end up sick.

"Sorry I'm late mate, " He huffed out finally reaching Eddie, "I found Ezra in the common room and she looked really lonely and pathetic," She smiled jokingly at Ezra, "So I invited her to come!... Hope that's okay." Benji knew that Ezra and Eddie usually got along, so he figured that Eddie wouldn't mind too much that he had invited her.

Benji looked towards the forest, it was dark and the cold wind blowing through it made it feel even more ominous than it already was.

Ezra had been sitting in the common room bored. Well...technically sitting. She had her legs tossed up and over the back of the chair with her head dangling off of the seat. All in all it had looked rather uncomfortable and slightly pathetic. Eventually, Benji had shown up, which caused her to fall..very ungracefully, off the chair. He mentioned he was going into the Forest to see Eddie, and something very frantic about frogs..or toads..maybe both? Either way, he had offered her to join and she gladly accepted.

She ran into her room for a few moments, given pyjamas weren't exactly outdoor attire, and slipped into some leggings, jeans, a white thermal and her giant Ravenclaw hoodie, and finally some sneakers. Bouncing out, she went down to the grounds with Benji, usual conversation going on.

"how are you? Anything new? What did Eddie break lately? Gosh we need capes."

You know...totally normal stuff.

Ezra hadn't expected to see the snow on the ground, and frowned slightly. Snow was a bit of an enemy for her. Snow was slippery. Ezra was clumsy. You can see how the two don't get along. She walked excruciatingly slow, to her atleast. She wanted nothing more than to book it down the hill and go into the woods.

When they reached the hill, she saw Benji go sailing down it, and watched as he stuck a pretty good landing. This made Ezra ponder for a moment. She could valiantly attempt to walk down the powdery death trap, or slide down purposefully. With a look of determination and probably a bit too much confidence, she sat down and pushed herself off and down the hill. Instantly her hands went up in the air as she whizzed down.

Closer, closer, almost right to Eddie and Benji...and right past them. She hadd miscalculated her speed quite badly and wound up sliding into a random snowbank, cursing loudly the whole way.

Flinging the fluffy white off herself, she crawled back to her feet and smiled brightly at her friends, her hands on her hips.

"So! What the gameplan, boys?"

Eddie cheered and pumped his hands in the air as his friend skid elegantly down the hill. He met him at the bottom, and tackled him into the snow. laying on top of him, Eddie rocked with laughter, nearly losing his hat and having to sit up and grab it so it wouldn't blow away. "Lovely entrance. m'boy! Ten out of ten!" And then Ezra whizzed by on her ass, in a blur that Eddie had a hard time tracking with his eyes. He watched her speed into a snow pile, which was so amusing, it knocked Eddie to the ground, making him roll about beside Benji with laughter. "And Ezra Winchester wins the ass sliding championship!"

It took him a moment to calm himself down and get back on his feet. Once up right again, he drained what was left of his cigarette down to a stub and threw it down to the ground to stub it with the toe of his black Chuck Taylor Converse. "You both win the battle for my heart though." he smiled, walking over to Ezra and dusting some snow out of her hair.

"I found Ezra in the common room and she looked really lonely and pathetic," Eddie laughed, proud of the boy for learning to tease like he did. He was a chip off the old block, "So I invited her to come!... Hope that's okay."

"You kidding me?" Eddie smiled, putting his arm around Erza's neck, " Ezzie and I go waaaaaaay back!" he exaggerated with a limp-wristed wave, "And she is an intrepid adventurer, and an asset to the team!" he dropped his voice a few pitches and tried to sound important as he gripped her shoulders and looked off into the sky for dramatic effect, "We should be honoured to have her amongst us!" He gave her a stiff pat on the back, and started to walk off into the forest as if he hadn't just been a complete fool.

"So! What the gameplan, boys?"

"We're going into this forest, and we're gonna catch ourselves a frog!" Eddie said happily, taking them to where he and Hestia had found Jeremiah weeks before. "There should still be some more out here, if we're lucky. Afterwards, we should all head to the great hall for tea and cider!" He whistled happily as they went, a bright and cheerful tune, and only stopped once to ask a simple question.

"You brought something to keep this sucker in, right Benji?"

Climbing to his feet and shaking his head wildly to get the snow off, Benji smiled at Eddie and Ezra. He was glad that Eddie approved of his decision to bring Ezra along, they were going to have a blast. "Nice run Ezra," Benji referred to her trip down the hill, "I wish I'd thought of that!" Benji turned to Eddie, "Of course, " he said answering the boys question about a carrying case, "I have this !" Benji pulled a small brown box, the size of a button out of his pocket. "I shrunk it so it would be easier to carry!" He popped the box back into his pocket for safe keeping.

Benji finished brushing off the snow from his cloths, and walked over to Ezra putting his arm around her as he got there. "This my good friends, is going to be the best adventure ever!" Benji paused for a moment looking at the forest. It was dark, and the wind blowing through it made strange noises. He then looked directly at Eddie. "You are sure it is safe right? I mean, you know where we are going?" Benji wasn't so much afraid of the woods, as he was afraid to get lost in the woods. He did not do well in cold dark places for long periods of time. An adventure for an afternoon was one thing but he did not want to be in there after dark.

Releasing Ezra, Benji walked toward his best mate. Clapping him on the back he broke into a run toward the forest, "Last one there has to kiss the frog we find" He joked as he raced away from his friends. "Come on slowpokes!"

Ezra smirked and bowed dramatically before giving Eddie a playful shove . "Next time ill just pull you down with me." she panted, poking Benji.

"I found Ezra in the common room and she looked really lonely and pathetic," Ezra laughed and put on a face of mock woe. "Oh it was dreadful. I was nearly lost to despair when Benji came and rescued me!" she laugh, falling like a damsel in distress to Benji as she spoke.

"You kidding me? Ezzie and I go waaaaaaay back!" ezra nodded, tossing her arm around his neck as well. "Oh yeah. Waaaay back. See, I sort of landed on him, and we've been friends ever since." she laughed thinking back to that day. As Eddie went on she hopped into heroic stances and battle poses, giggling the whole time of course.

"We're going into this forest, and we're gonna catch a frog.There should still be some more out here, if we're lucky. Afterwards, we should all head to the great hall for tea and cider!"

Ezra have them an enthusiastic thumbs up and pulled three ridiculous knit hats from her hoodie pocket and placed it on each of their heads authoritatively.

"Got to have the proper gear, boys!" she laughed as they investigated their new head gear.

"This my good friends, is going to be the best adventure ever!" Ezra smiled and put her arm around him as well, looking off into the forest. "Agreed! We three daring souls shall conquer the timorous beasties and claim the Forest! She cobtinued looking, excitement reeling off if her. She knew the forest like the back of her hand, or paw as the case may have been. the day was looking up, and she was getting to spend it with two of her best friends.

"Last one there has to kiss the frog we find! Come on slowpokes!" Benji joked as he bolted away. Ezra cast a sideways glance to Eddie and raced after Benji.

"Better pucker up Eddie!" she called back to him laughing.

Eddie waved the question away, not even stopping to look back at his friends, "I've been in here tons of times! Once with my pants down! I think I know what I'm doing." he wipes his nose and continues leading the charge, "Oh, but if you see any dead bodies, it totally wasn't Joram's fault."

"Got to have the proper gear, boys!" Eddie heard Ezra call, and turned around to see what was happening. The girl had some crazy looking knitting that she was passing out, and Eddie's blue eyes went wide in excitement.

"You made me a gift!?" he said in a weird pitch that made his voice crack awkwardly, "Oh Ezzie, you do care!" he laughed and gave the girl a quick hug before he took off his trilby and pulled the ragtag thing on over his head, "Brilliant." He smirked, loving how snug it was around his ears. He pulled his wand out quickly and tapped his other hat with it, "Spongify!" He said quickly, and his stiff hat automatically became floppy, and he folded it up and shoved it in his pocket. He shoved his wand back behind his ears, and adjusted the knitted hat happily, "Every time I wear this, I'll think of frogs." He nodded definitively at Ezra, and turned back around to continue the hunt.

There was a stiff clap on his back suddenly and Benji went running past, followed closely by Ezra. obviously to the two were up to something, but Eddie didn't clue in that it was a race till they were both more than ten feet away. Now he had the option of chasing after them, or being stoic and lazy. " I'm sure I've kissed uglier things than toads!" He called out after them, considering the second option, but he couldn't control his lust for play, and with a bite of his lip, he was sprinting away.

With legs longer than the other two in this flock, Eddie quickly caught up to his friends. Cold wind whipped past his cheeks and neck, giving him goosebumps. His heart pounded in his chest, and each breath was cold and stung his lungs. It was invigorating- he didn't want to stop! And soon, they were running deeper into the forest than he had even been. Eventually, Eddie decided it was time to draw this race to a close, and he pulled together all his strength, and raced off past the group, yelling wildly. Once he was more than twenty paces away from them, he found himself a good tree and grabbed at a low branch, swinging himself up into the barren plant and waiting for them to catch up.

"So? Where's that frog?" he laughed, rubbing his hands together and licking his lips, " it was the winner who got to kiss her, yeah?"

Benji ran with all his might. He had hoped that his head start would have been enough to let him win this impromptu race, but Ezra was hot on his tale and Eddie had already passed him. Curse his short ass legs! Glancing back at Ezra to gage whether or not he needed to speed up, Benji almost tripped himself on a root. Hopping three or four times on one foot, he regained his balance and decided that he would concentrate on Eddie instead of Ezra. Pulling his new hat farther onto his head, Benji put everything he had into more speed to try to catch Eddie.

He didn't even know where they were anymore, nor did he really know where the race was supposed to end. Benji had never been in the forest before, it didn't seem as scary as he thought it would. Light shown through the trees and reflected of the snow dusted trails. The ground was mostly mud with a little bit of snow here and there, the trees had stopped most of the snow from reaching the ground.

Ahead of Benji, Eddie had stopped and climbed a tree. Benji panicked. He was running at full speed and could feel the mud under his feet. The tree Eddie had stopped in was less that 20 feet from him, how was he going to stop. He shot a panicked look back at Ezra, if he couldn't stop, how was she going to.

Thinking as fast as he could, Benji locked both legs and his run quickly changed into a power slide. He felt like a kid again, remembering how he used to slide around his house in sock feet. He couldn't steer, but he figured that he would slow down fast enough that he would end up just beside the tree Eddie was in. His trick was working, Benji could feel himself slowing down, sadly, he wasn't slowing fast enough. Realizing this, Benji dug part of his left heel deeper into the ground, it did slow him more but it also changed his direction.

CLUNCK! Benji slid face first into a tree before losing his balance and landing on his back. He lied there for a minute, then he started to giggle. The giggle quickly escalated into a full blown laugh.

Ezra ran as fast as her legs would allow without falling on her face. She was nearly neck in neck with Benji, and intended to beat him. She focused on Benji, watching where he stepped and what was there. After he tripped over a root, she made note of where it was and leaped over it when it came to her. Shortly, Eddie had caught up and surpassed the two, nearly going out of site as he leaped up into a tree. Ezra took a deep breath as she gathered all her speed.

She could tell roughly where they were, and knew where most of the obstacles were. Then again, the Forbidden Forest had a habit of almost changing sometimes. She was elated, feeling the wind in her hair, her legs burning as she ran, and snowflakes feeling much harder than they were as they bounced off her cheeks. She was nearly lost in the thrill until she saw the panic in Benji as he locked up to slow himself. She hadn't noticed quick enough, and was sure to collide with the tree Eddie was lurking in. She had to think of something and fast.

Seeing a tree coming up on her right, with branches that lingered into Eddies tree she smiled and took a leap. In mid air, her clothes transformed into silken fur. Her face elongated and changed, her awkward looking leap, turned into a daring pounce, and the girl was replaced by a leopard.

Paws extended, she latched onto the tree right as Benji erupted into giggles, and climbed. In a moment she was into the tree Eddie had gone into and climbing doen the trunk of it, returning to a girl as she touched the ground. Stumbled with laughter, adrenaline, and a lack of breath, she saluted Eddie, and walked over to help Benji up.

"You pulled that one off rather well, mate." She giggled.

"So? Where's that frog? it was the winner who got to kiss her, yeah?" Ezra looked over and burst out laughing.

"Well technically, its the loser, and thats me. But by all means hot stuff, you give that frog a day to remember!"

"Now I remember why I keep you two around!" Eddie rocked with laughed as the two skidded around on the forest floor, "Because you're both hilarious!" He watched the two scramble around, laughing as Benji fell down, and giving out a cat call as Ezra changed, "You are sooo good at that!" he sighed, reaching out to pet the kitty's head before she descended the tree.

"You pulled that one off rather well, mate." Ezra panted as she turned back into her other self.

Eddie sat squatted a top the balls of his feet and brought his arms out to bow a few times dramatically. "Thank you, thank you! I'll have you know, I'm training to join the circus after school!" he laughed with a wink. It was said in a joking manner, but with a boy like Ed, you really couldn't tell if he was being serious or not. Something about him gave the impression that he would be happy in a spandex body suit swinging from a trapeze all day. "It also helps that I'm so elegantly tall! while Benji here is freakishly short." He smiled down at his best friend, who was still laying in the snow.

"Well, if we find a frog, I'll make sure to test her out!" he stood up in the tree, holding his arms out to the side, and walking along the branch just to show off. The pompom of his hate dangled down in his face and he blew it away, only for it to come back. "Have to kiss every frog you find! Never know if it's gonna be a princess in disguise!"

"Want some help up there Benj?" Eddie laughed, watching his friend roll in his giggle fit on the ground. "You're gonna scared the frogs away with all that noise!" he teased, jumping down from his height to give Benjamin a hand.

Eddie didn't get the chance though. As soon as his feet hit the ground, there was a crack, and the ground shattered beneath them, dropping both Eddie and Benji into a foot of freezing water. Eddie got the best of it. Only his calves and feet were effected- still cold enough- but pour Benji was dropped right into the water. ALL of him. Eddie couldn't help him self. After the initial noise of air rushing from his lungs in shock, Eddie burst out laughing, stepping backwards and falling onto the little bank of unbroken ice. It took him a moment before he was able to help drag his friend out of the water and make sure he wasn't in shock.

"You okay boy?"

Before Benji knew what was happening he found himself immersed in ice cold water. It was FREEZING! He felt a hand grab his coat and pull his head out of the water, gasping for air, Benji tried his best to climb out of the freezing death trap. Noticing his new hat floating in the water beside him he grabed it as he clammered toward Eddie. "wwwaaaaa....whhhaaatt, hhhh...hhaappened?"Benji shivered cursing himself for not remembering to cast a water repellent spell, he had coved the mud issue, but totally forgot about water.

Reaching dry ground, Benji tried to get his wand out of his pocket. To his dismay and deep frustration, his hands were too cold to grip the small object. Collapsing to the forest floor Benji curled himself into a ball. "lllliiittlle hhhh, hhheeelp hhheeerrreee?" He was having trouble forming full words as his body shook.

Benji looked around the forest while he waited for his friends to warm him up. Suddenly a huge smile beamed across his now rather blue face. "lllll, lloook." he managed to splutter out though the shivering, "FFFFRRRROOOGGGG!" There, sitting less than three meters away from them were three frogs.

As Benji tried to point to them all three started to hop away, obviously startled by the commotion of the two boys falling into the water. Benji was so excited he momentarily forgot how cold he was as he tried in vain to jump towards one to catch it, landing hard on his chest as he failed to get he arms and legs off the ground. "We ffffff, ffound tthh, them!"

Both Ezra and Eddie held their hands out to Benji, but right when Eddie had stepped near Benji, she could hear the crackling of ice. As the two went down, she leaped backwards clumsily and peered into the shallow hole where they had been standing. Eddie, surprisingly still was, the water barely reaching towards his knees. But Benji, he had still been on the ground and was soaked from head to toe. Shaking her head sympathetically and stifling some laughter, she grabbed hold of the back of Eddies pants and helped him yank Benji out. Which was proving a little difficult as Eddie was still bursting with laughter.

"Bloody hell, are you lot alright??"

"wwwaaaaa....whhhaaatt, hhhh...hhaappened?" Ezra knelt down beside him, trying very hard to hide a smirk. "You fell in, mate." she replied.

"lllliiittlle hhhh, hhheeelp hhheeerrreee?" Ezra saw how badly he was shivering and took off her giant hoodie and sort of shoved it over his head. Once he was mostly covered by it she started grabbing stray logs and branches that were lying around and piled them near the two boys. After there was a decent pile she pulled out her wand and ignited them.

"Incendio!" The cold didn't bother Ezra much, atleast not with a thermal on. Besides, Benji needed the hoodie a whole lot more than she did right then. She looked over to Eddie, with a look of 'get your arse over here.' and sat between them by the fire.

"FFFFRRRROOOGGGG!" Ezra looked at Benji, seeing a giant smile plastered on his face, and followedd his gaze. There they were, three frogs very close by, trying desperately to leave the scene. Ezra let out a laugh. Here Benji was, going into shock, and frozen head to toe and he still was trying to capture frogs. He made a move to go and catch them, only to fall down hard. Ezra pulled him back up and told he and Eddie to stay put (not that they would actually listen) as she walked over towards the frogs, hands slowly extending.

"Ooooooooh..." Eddie hissed, realizing how much pain and discomfort his friend must be in, "We should probably get you warmed up before you go into shock or hypothermia and we both have to get naked." He automatically wished he hadn't said that and fumbled over himself to correct that, "It's common to raise a hypothermia victim's core body temperature by letting them lay naked next to someone else so they absorb their warmth- I didn't mean that I wanted to get next to you like that! We're just bros!" He turned to Ezra, face red from embarrassment, trying to play off a cool smile, "We're just bros."

Thankfully Benji interjected with a loud "FFFFFRRRRRRROOOOOGGGGGG!!!" Eddie whipped around to see what the boy was screaming at, and sure enough, there were three, big old frogs. Benji dove for them, managing to scare them away, mostly and Ezra and Eddie were forced to pull him back.

"Nu-uh, buddy!" Eddie squatted down in front of Benji to give him a talk. "You wanna get hypothermia and have to snuggle? You stay by the fire and get warm. WE'LL get the frogs." Eddie clapped Benji hard on the shoulder and went after the frogs.

"Where are you, buddies?" Eddie sang quietly, getting down near the ground and heading off in the direction the frogs had gone. This reminded him a lot of the day he had first met Hestia and found himself his own pet. Out in the forest with friends, hunting frogs.... the biggest difference between that day and today was that his shins where fuckin freezing him! That water had been chilly to begin with, but the breeze had pretty much turned the bottom of his jeans and his converse into solid blocks of ice. Being diabetic, he had cold feet to begin with! He didn't need this crap.

"I found one!" Eddie called out to the others, as he made eye contact with the brown buggar. He licked his lips in concentration and reached out his hands slowly towards the little amphibian. "Come to Eddie, now..."

Benji sat in front of the fire that Ezra had made, grateful for the sweater she had pulled over his head. He watched as his friends tried to approach the frogs. He wanted nothing more than to be out beside them doing the same thing. Benji looked around, turning to his left he saw another toad, sitting not far from the fire. 'The heat must be attracting them' .

He tried to get the attention of his friends but both were too busy, each in there own way, trying to catch a frog. Benji was afraid that if he made too much noise he would frighten the frog away so he decided to try to catch the thing himself. Taking the box out of his pocket, Benji enlarged it and cast a heating charm inside before placing it beside him. The fire had done a good job in warming him up enough to have full function in his arms and legs and Benji was able to crawl on his hands and knees toward the amphibian.

Pausing every few inches, Benji slowly made his way toward the creature, hands out in front of him. Every once in a while the frog would move as if it was going to hop away, but it never did. Closer and closer, Benji crawled toward his target, to excited about a frog of his very own to enven notice how far away from the fire, and warmth, he was getting. 'Stay, stay, you're okay.... just stay put.' Benji repeated the words in his head as if the frog could actually hear him. Just as he was about to wrap his hand around the frog, it jump away from him into a bush.

Not being one to give up too easily, Benji dropped onto his stomach, and without a second thought, followed the amphibian right into the hiding spot. He probably should have told his friends what he was doing, for by the time he had gotten far enough in to see where the frog had gone, Benji was no longer visible from the other side of the shrub.

"We should probably get you warmed up before you go into shock or hypothermia and we both have to get naked.....It's common to raise a hypothermia victim's core body temperature by letting them lay naked next to someone else so they absorb their warmth- I didn't mean that I wanted to get next to you like that! We're just bros!" He turned to Ezra, face red from embarrassment. "We're just bros."

Ezra struggled not to burst with laughter and just nodded, both hands covering her mouth.

"Nu-uh buddy! You wanna get hypothermia and have to snuggle? You stay by the fire and get warm. WE'LL get the frogs." That was it, Ezra lost it. She burst into giggles and looked over at them.

"I think you're just looking for excuses to cuddle someone now, Eddie." she jested as she walked away in the direction of the frogs, pulling her hat tightly down.

"I found one!" Ezra raised a thumbs up in the air as she snuck up behind one. She waqs trying very hard to be quiet, but certain parts of the snow had gone crunchy and rather loud. Carefully, step after step, she got right behind it and reached down, capturing the little bugger. At first, the toad was cooperative, letting her bring it up from the ground, but then it got fiesty. It began squirming and trying to leap from her hands. She struggled to keep hold of it, not wanting to hurt it. In an act of desperation on the toads part, it leaped free and got free from her grasp. Quickly Ezras hands shot out, catching the toad before it hit the ground, causing herself to fall in the process.

After spitting out a mouthful of snow, she managed to keep hold of the amphibian and started to walk back to where Benji was.

"I got one, Eddie!" she called out, nearing the fire. But Benji was nowhere to be seen. She looked around briefly, left and right, and upwards for good measure and stood there completely befuddled.

"Benji?....BENJI?!Where the bloody hell are you, mate!"
